Bonjour, Philipandre.

A very nice kit indeed. However your 0.95 lens doesn't look like the ones I have seen before. Not referring to the mount, of course. The focusing ring doesn't look like the normal scalloped ring. Can you post another photo of the lens barrel from the side?

" Enormous " lens ! good for Leica ... Big and short very balanced
No problem for the finder and the light for frame viewer.
My lens hood is Nikon HN-20 for 85 mm 1.4 (no vigneting )
The original lens hood Canon is very rare and ... very expensive in Europe !!!

Hey that's a real "cool" looking setup. Definitely, looks better than my CV Nokton 35 f/1.2, in my opinion:cool:.
Just wondering, (don't know how stupid my question may be:bang:) is it rangfinder coupled or do you have to estimate the distance when focusing, similar to the CV 15?
Tks

Rob

Yes, the coupling perfect being… the helicoid identical that optic Leica…
1 mètre=> infinite …
The adaptation is made in workshop to Paris ( a friend )

Can a adapter be made so that you can use the 50/0.98 on both the Canon 7 and a Leica M camera?

Yes, I KNOW someone privately in California who`s doing this he`s the ONLY person I know who`s doing it, keeping both variations for the lens working, must people cut these lenses up badly and then thet can`t be used anymore on the Canon 7`s anymore - I think it`s a shame, that`s the camera they work BEST on anyway

This would be almost impossible to do practically working in the field. The DOF of this lens wideopen is VERY shallow. That was why Canon designed the model 7/7s/7sz with a wide base RF, as well as the large outer mounting ring. They essentially designed the camera with the specific lens in mind.

Even with most accessory RF's, the accuracy just isn't there. In order to get good results, the camera and the lens should be very well matched, as far as RF accuracy. The M3 has the superb VF, and a relatively wide RF base, and it is still not easy to maintain good focusing accuracy.

The best answer is still the 7s/0.95 combination, but you have to shoot film.....

Yes Harry !

The Canon 0.95 fixed perfectly are perfect on M8, and perfect being with M7 and other M Leica product ( I to use 0.95 with M2/M4/M6/M7/Hexar )

The zone of very short Net being to 0.95, but photography not to be really beautiful…
The use of Canon 0.95 to be good with F: 1.4 - F: 2… the interest being the quality of the blur in background.

Not the use with total opening ! ! !

why not a 50mm f1.4 lens if you not gonna use total opening

just one suggestion here. I'd not use the lens if I not use max aperture often. There are alternatives with lower weight and better handling for your used apertures IMHO.

I agree - it is a very big and slow to focus lens. It is plenty sharp at 0.95 if focused correctly. Here is a WO shot with a ND8. Nothing special, and no wild bokeh, but unparalleled subject isolation for this FL...

BTW, that is an extremely good looking conversion on your lens, Philip!

Yes, agree ! that 50 mm f: 1.4 is excellent …

Canon 0.95 and Noctilux to have bokeh very specific… the interest being there. I use the 0.95 with f:1.4 / 2 / 2.8. but the specific being result... only ;)

Philip,

What are doing in La Reunion?

I Heard about Bob Brosman playing blues guitar there a few years ago, but that is about at the corner of the world. Usually don't even hear about it.

I not to know Bob Brosman…. how bluesmann !!!

I to live for 5 months in La Réunion island …Very good life ... I'm free photographer …
