I've only put one film through my ZI so far and already the leathers are badly marked. Main problem is I'm left eyed and my nose has left a mark in the middle of the back which only got worse when I tried to clean it off. Also, maybe it's my imagination, but my fingers sweat when I'm holding the camera (there's gotta be a joke in there somewhere).

Wondered if anyone else had had problems.

Anyway, I'm thinking of changing the leathers to something else. CameraLeather.com now do a kit for the camera in any colour/finish you like - maybe I'll go for green lizard or something...

P.S. Maybe I should mention mines a black version. Don't know if the leathers are different on silver ones or not.

As a person with oily skin, I know how you feel. I switched to chrome cameras. My F3 is the only black camera I own and I'm always cleaning nose and forhead marks. I'm not sure what leather finish would be the best though. I thought the white lizard skin would good on my chrome M2 though :)

Here is a prime example of the difference between men an women!

Whilst you lot are worrying about the marks your fingers and noses are leaving on your cameras, I'm worrying about what my face looks like now that my make-up is all over the back of my camera.

I ordered a black and white lizard skin from Cameraleather 3 months ago for my OM1, it never arrived, information by mail was not satisfying. If you want to order there, ask first if they are able/willing to provide you a tracking number (which they never gave me). So you can check if the package is really sent out, or if that package is stuck somewhere.
They don't answer my mails anymore, so I think I just wasted $ 48,- .

I have used them before when I recovered my Contax. They even custom cut the leather for me as the camera was modified slightly. Never had any problems. Sorry your experience wasn't as good.

You could put black tape over your nose. BTW, I like having my nose print on the back of my ZI. Good as an ID in case of theft. LOL.

Let us not forget that bellows on large format cameras are made of goat skin (most of them). Some of those have lasted longer than probably all 35mm cameras will. Leather on those cameras did not seem to infect lenses with fungi. So, leather on cameras may not be as dangerous as it may seem. Yes, it is a dead animal skin, but most of those animals were eaten by humans anyway.
