Hi there,
after a lovely IIIM was sold here, my GAS tells me to try and get one.
Well, I try to convince myself that I need a relatively inexpenssive camera with a fixed lens to carry around, the lens is praised, I like old meterless cameras etc.. (the rest is for the shrink :))

Anyway, there are a few models and I try to make up my mind. The IIIM looks very bulky to me, and I don't need the meter, which I understood that doesn't work anyhow. The IIIA looks beautiful in the photos but the III looks smaller and nicer.

I coundn't figure out the differences between the 50/1.8 lens and the 48/2 lens. 48/2 is good enough for me, but is it indeed an inferior lens as Dante Stella says? He also says that the III model are a bit less reliable and more difficult to fix, is that true?

looking at picutres of the cameras- the IIIM and IIIA have three windows at their front and the III have only two. Does it mean that the III don't have framelines at all? Dante Stella mentions that the framelines of the IIIM and IIIA are highly sophisticated, compansating etc.

Lastly, if any of you knows where these cameras can be bought (outside ebay) and CLA'd I'd be happy to know.
Of course, if someone has such a camera and want to sell it, I'd be happy

Thanks and Shabat Shalom

A IIIA with the 50mm lens has been on my list for some time. After much soul (wallet) searching, I found that I really wanted it more for its physical beauty than the likelyhood that I would shoot it.

OK, I got one answer myself - DAG and Youxin don't fix them but Marc Hama do.
Raid, where are you :) ?

I am here, Assaf.
I like the III and the IIIM [I don't have the IIIA]. Both lenses are superb.
The IIIM seems to be more robust than the II or the III. The II may be the prettiest model of all.

Thank you!
L39UK, I'll definitely have a look at these cameras.
Raid, thanks, If you want to sell one of your Konica you know who to talk to :)
Cheers

BTW, Raid, is there a big difference in the RF system between the III and the IIIM/IIIA, especially from the user point of view?
I noticed that the IIIA/IIIM have three windows on the camera front, like in Leica M's, which I guess are for: VF, framelines, pach. The III has only two, why is it so?

Assaf: you mean like this one?

The funny thing is, as I was laying in bed at 4 am this morning, awake as usual, I was thinking to myself that I need to sell this camera. It is a stunner, but since I somehow ended up with two IIIfs  it has become something of a shelf queen.

Recent CLA by Dean Williams, who I recommend highly for work on older and obscure cameras - he is quick, thorough and his prices are good.

Raid and I have talked Konica III's in the past. Raid, I pulled the trigger on the Nikon S that LeicaTom listed - this and probably the Leica IIIf BD have to go.

Assaf, PM me if you are interested.
