Oh yes I forgot the Taliban only BEHEAD their US prisoners, and that is after merciless torture. And don't believe for one second our fore fathers didn't take EVERY measure they could to get information from enemy prisoners.

This is not intended for one second as a criticism of the USA, but only of those of its politicians who thoughtlessly use the phrase 'hold their feet to the fire'.

A Tibetan friend of mine still bears the (very ugly) scars on his shins from where the Chinese literally held him close to the fire to find out the names of his associates. His 'crime'? Putting up pro-democracy posters....

Which does not stop me saying, 'Happy Independence Day' (or 'Bastille Day 10 Days Early').
