Ken Rockwell says Electro 35 better than Leica & Nikon RF's

We all knew the Electro is really all the camera we needed .. didn't we?

If not Ken just reminded us!

I didn't like this bit ... "It has a much clearer finder than the Nikon manual rangefinders of the 1950s that fetch astronomical prices from geriatric collectors. "

I just bought a Nikon rangefinder and I feel quite wounded! 😛

This was my first RF camera back in 1972. With a table pod the Electro 35 was the low-light king until the Oly XA came along. The XA was my second RF camera.
 
i found this on another part of his website...

he seems prone to making sweeping statements about equipment he doesn't own.

Geriatrics is an adjective. The noun is geriatry, which is the branch of medicine that studies the problems and illnesses caused by advanced age.

I have a brother who is a medical doctor; he use to lecture me on subjects physiological most mornings, while having breakfast, after he had pulled an all-nighter studying anatomy and other fun things like that. 🙂

Forget that. How do you set exposure on an Electro? Fixed lens RFs that can be put on manual I can still understand. But how people can use an AE only camera with ancient center weighted meter I'll never know. The whole world is middle gray, apparently.
 
Yeah, the point of my snide question was to question what "best" means. Barrett is closer to the truth, I would only add "that will do the job". For most of us, having more than one focal length is, if not necessary, at least highly desirable and often pretty important. The Olympus 35SP is the best fixed lens RF for me, but it's not the best I could wish for, since I can't change the focal length.
