I am the kind of guy who likes something a bit unique. So when I was buying my first Leica I ended up getting the LHSA M6 ttl. I love that it has the black paint finish and brass parts. I kept
it original until I got a repainted black paint M3 recently. i then took the step and got the Red Ringmark Lizard covering from cameraleather.com.
I read all of the procedure on their website and decided i could handle the switch myself. So i got me some methelyne chloride and chopsticks and got all set up. Something wonderful happened. I didn't need to use any harsh chemicals at all! I suppose it is because it is a newer model camera but in any case I only needed to sharpen a chopstick and the end of a paint brush. The back piece came off easily but left some residue. A few minutes time and it was nice and clear. When removing the front piece it came off in one full piece and left almost no residue at all. it went swimingly.
I then followed the instructions on applying the new covering. It went well, I suppose being the perfectionist that i can be when doing something like this it could ave gone a bit smoother on the install. The right front side is shifted up slightly. Really it's nothing. I had fun doing this, and would recommend recovering one of your cameras if you ever feel the desire.

Awesome. I bought the griptac and a container of the adhesive remover. But haven't yet gotten the nerve to begin the procedure on my M7. I need chopsticks though.
