I am sure this has been asked before, but people's tastes change and there are always newbies on a forum (like me) so, following on from the favourite lens thread I'd like to ask what is your favourite colour and black and white film with FSU lenses? And incidentally, do you go so far as to favour one type of film with one make/model of lens and a different type with a different lens?

No preference for a certain brand when I use black and white film. I use color most of the time. Consumer film of Kodak (like Gold or ultramax) did not perform really well in combination with the Industar 22 and Jupiter 8. The prints had a too yellowish tint and too much grain. Had good results with these films with my Zenit E and the Prakticas. Fuji superia works the best for me, I choose iso 200 for most purposes.

Ilford HP5+: memorably described as 'like Casablanca' (the film not the place)
Fomapan 200 @ 125 in FX39
Best I've seen (doesn't work for me): Ilford FP4+ in PMK.

i mostly use B+W for my FSU stuff, I tend to use Ilford Delta 400, it pushes and pulls well, so is very versatile, I process in Ilford HC. I find this combination to work well. Im much less picky about colour film, I have a load of rolls of Agfa Pro 200 and Vista 400 which I'm using up. I also like Portrait 160 for 120 stuff. When I buy more, I'll probably get Fuji Pro 400H.

I rarely use B&W but I've tried XP2 (chromogenic) in the Zorki 1. The results were pretty good bar some colour-casts.
For colour I tend to use the "free" Kodak Gold that my processor hands out. I'm not a big fan of Kodak, the colours are a bit unreal and fluorescent but it's "free". I've tried Fujichrome Sensia 200 in the Zorki 1 and that came out very nice. Also got some 400asa to try. I used to use a lot of Agfa transparency but no more, sadly.

sorry for the typos "shoot" and " buy some stock" obviously. I'm sat in a 12th century pub (with great real ale) in Melton Mowbray in front of a Log fire .. In August !!!!!!!!!

People criticise me for mixing technologies - taking photo's using film cameras and then scanning the neg's and saving them to disc. But drinking real ale in an old pub while on-line...hmmm!
And by the way, same here - not so much the city of light, more the city of rain, drizzle, overcast and wind.

I use any film I've got lying around.... including expired film ;-)
Have about 20 rolls of Kodak Supra 400 I'm chewing through,
plus a bulk roll of Delta 400 I've yet to start using. I swear I've
noticed that the C41 B+W films (Ilford XP2 and Kodak BW400CN)
scan cleaning and so give much better looking digitised pics.
