Manfrotto has a 3 piece table top tripod kit (MA-345) that should be quite handy for rangefinder kits. Hold up to 2 kg.

I can recommend the Novoflex Microstativ. It is very compact, yet sturdy enough to hold a Nikon D3.

The Bogen/Manfrotto 3007 pod with ball head has been around for years, the extension column is a new twist which has been around for about 5 years or so.
Nicely done, fairly stable, though I would be judicious in the use of the extension for much weight, due to instability with the height.
Otherwise, a great, very compact unit. The ball head (#3009, I believe), which is very nice on its own, is detachable, of course, making the set a great companion for travel. And, it will support almost any reasonable weight with no trouble.

I don't think it was made by Cosina/Voigtlander but I have had this ersatz Leica pod (I think it was ~$20 in the 80s) for decades:
The tripod itself is a definition of stable, but the ball is ... well, not very smooth.
(That's a Heliopan close-up filter that brings the focus to exactly 18 inches in front of the lens.)

I wish I could remember the manufacturer. It was a generic Japanese brand, like PRO or Prinz ... I'll bet it's no longer made though.Chris101, yeah, that's the one I saw earlier.

Seriously consider an UltraPod II: 4 oz/130 g, $20-ish. Brilliant use of materials, though I took the Velcro strap off mine. I've used them for years -- even though I have the Leica version as well.

AND they're made in the USA.

I will second the recommendation for the Ultrapod. I have the Ultrapod I, it pretty much goes every where with me, in my handbag, handlebar bag, pannier, cost pocket, just a handy thing to always have. And like the velcro, since I am strapping mine to fenceposts, signposts, tablelegs, etc.
