Hello,

I have got my R-d1 for about a month now and I am happy with it (except that I had to take it back to CS for focus adjustment).

I am thinking of getting more lens. Right now, I only have one lens which is the Summicron-C 40mm. I am thinking of neither getting the CV 15mm 4.5 or the CV 50mm 1.5.

For the 15mm, I heard that it does come with the viewfinder? However due to the crop factor of r-d1's sensor, should i get another 21mm viewfinder? Is it difficult to find the Voigtlander D finders now?

I heard that the CV 50mm 1.5 is a good lens and I really want to try it out. However, I am a bit puzzled, because the 50mm is pretty close to the 40mm i got (the focal length) Moreever, I am planning to get a Summicron 50mm in the future (which I dont have enough money now).

What would be a good choice? Please advise me...

Thank you very much in advance!

What do you like to shoot? What type of pictures you prefer - what look? Vintage, high/low contrast? Many things to consider here before suggesting anything. As far as overall/everyday lens - well you already have a good one. If you want 50mm - I'd get a M-Hexanon - my personal favorite. But there many others, like Zeiss Planar 50/2, etc. Absolutely great lens (if you are not afraid of it's size) is a CV 35/1.2. Nothing else like it. A new CV 28/2 seems to be getting some great reviews. Again, - personally I prefer 28/2.8 M-Hexanon. CV and Zeiss (ZM) 21mm lenses are great. So, you have lots and lots of options. Plus all the vintage wonderful lenses, like Canon, Nikon, FSU (Jupiters, etc).

As you already have a 40 mm, a 50 mm would probably be wasted. On an R-D1, a 28 mm may not be wide enough.

i used a 28mm lens and found it very nice to use - it's quite close to a 40mm lens on 135 film.

i replaced it with the ZM Biogon 25mm, which is now my favourite on the R-D1.

but, of course, these are only my personal preferences.
cheers,
sebastian

I love the 15, but it has personality: it shoots a "certain picture". I would suggest the 15, being more fun, especially since you have a 40.

I like using a Cron 40/2 when i bring one lens only. In fact i use it like a 35/2 IV with a better frame lines accuracy (at long to medium distance that is).
But for a two-lens set, 28 & 50 are mandatory to me and when i bring them both, the 40/2 stays unused i'm afraid.
A good affordable 50? I would prefer a vintage Summicron from the seventies (the # 11819 with tab is close to the 40/2 IQ wise) but i've seen good pics from the CV 50/1.5 as well. I don't own the latter though.

heck, that's what I did.

I would go for a 28mm. I find it a very nice focal length on the R-D1. The CV15 vignettes very much on the R-D1, which of course is something that can be desired by some. Even some 28mm lenses vignette significantly (such as the CV 28/3.5). Sean Reids wide angle that is available on Luminous Landscape would be recommended reading if you are looking in to a wide angle lens.
