Nokton 35/1.2 in addition to Nokton 35/1.4

Eversince I've seen images by the Nokton 35/1.2 I feel the desire to get that lens. But I already have the Nokton 35/1.4 SC and it has become the steady companion of my M2.
Shall I or shouldn't I get it? The differences between the lenses are merely in the image rendition wide open, or is there more to the 1.2 than half a stop more speed and sexier bokeh wide open?
 
I have the 40mm Nokton, as well as two slower 35mm lenses -- and I still want to get the 35 1.2. I think it is a very special and unique lens. That said, the primary reason I want it is its look wide open.
 
IF you are planning to shoot wide open most of the time and you're pretty sure you love the bokeh - go for it.

Otherwise, the 1.2 is quite big (or really big?) for a RF, where the 1.4 is actually smaller than the 1.7 Ultron (which is ASPH thought). 1.4 also has a convenient focus-tab. Personally I settled for the 1.7 Ultron. Cheap but great. If I had to start from nothing, I would surely get the 1.4 Nokton.
 
I was using the 1.9 Ultron and was quite happy with it. It is small and light and very sharp. Then I bought the 1.2 Nokton and haven't used the Ultron since. The Nokton is big and heavy. However, the performance is really outstanding and the bokeh is really wonderful. My most useful lenses are the 25mm Color Skopar which is really small, light and sharp, the 90mm Elmarit which is also suberb and the 35mm 1.2 Nokton.

So don't let the weight of the Nokton scare you off. The extra weight is worth it and the total camera/lens weight is no worse than a low range DSLR.
It's certainly lighter than my Nikon D300 which I carried around all last week during a photo shoot in the Eastern Sierras.

I just sold the nokton 1.2 and bought a 1.4.

My reason was simple...I didn't like the size and how the 1.2 blocked my viewfinder.

For me, a small lens i take everywhere is more impt than that half stop or bokeh. Having my camera with me to grab a shot is more impt that the ultimate lens peeping. Moreover, the 1.4 fits into my leica case which i can then safely throw into my work bag. With the nokton 1.2, i have to bring a camera bag or split the lens/camera.

I'm a proud new owner of 35mm 1.2. If you have cash, just buy it, it's a unique lense, if not, dont succumb to GAS. I really dont see any reasons why you should by another 35mm. I bought the 35mm 1.2, now I dont even have enough money for the train ticket for the next 3 months
 
I have both. I use the 35/1.4 SC on a film body, and the 35/1.2 on my R-D1S.

Why? Because I can.
 
i have the 1.4 and recently acquired the 1.2 as well.
both require different styles of shooting and handling.
with the 1.2, i tend to think even more about composing and exposing the shot.
the build feels really good, esp coupled with the ZI.
the low-light capability is fantastic.

and so... the 1.4 has to go.
