Guys,
We came up with an idea during the last meeting. We suggested that we should do a photo exhibition of our work. Obviously, we do not want to make money out of it, we are just amateurs who enjoy taking photographs so we thought of selling the photos and giving all profits (if any) to a charity.
The plan is that every HK members submits 20 photographs (colour, B&W, rff, slr, film, digital, whatever...), we will then review them together and choose 5 for each members. In my opinion, it should only be photographs of Hong Kong.
The next step would be to submit them to an expert retoucher/printer (possibly Danny if he agrees) for the final tweaking of the photographs and more importantly for the printing.
Obviously, there are other problems to sort out, like finding a gallery :bang: but through all our contacts we might be able to sort that out.
So what do you think? I personnaly think it is a great idea and we should all start thinking about which photos we would like to submit.
Let me know if you have any suggestions/ideas. So lets say we have until the end of December to come up with 20 photographs (I am pretty sure all of you already have them), we should then meet in January to select the final ones.
So let's get the ball rolling!
Cheers
Max

That was my first thought but I am sure we will find good reasons to include photos of other places. I just threw some ideas now we need to discuss about it more seriously (around a good bottle of wine

Hi Guys,
Sorry I missed the last outing.
I'm open to any idea(s) about mounting a show, but I'll throw out that Dingo and I talked about this a year ago just after we formed the HK Photo Club sub-chapter of RFF.
I think that because so many of our shoots together have been in Hong Kong that we should try to mount a composite show (or try to self-publish a book) of our best photos. For sure, each of us has had 10 GREAT photos over the past year, and since each of us has a different style, we could easily come up with an entertaining offering of over 100 photos. Perhaps by neighborhood?
Along this vein, I called Dingo earlier tonight about a show that's currently up until 31 October here in HK at the FCC (next to The Fringe Club) that's really worth seeing. It's by an amateur named Carsten Schael called "Fai Di! Dai Di!" ("Hurry! Hurry!" for those out of Hong Kong). Check out www.cantoville.com for images.
I don't know from the photographer how he does what he does, but the images look like film shot through an XPan (or equivalent) that have then been scanned and photoshopped to give them their iridescent effect. Whatever he does, the shots are well composed and are really interesting and worth seeing.
If anyone wants to meet me at the FCC this weekend for a beer or two, even lunch or a snack, let me know and I'd be happy to.
Best,
Adrian
