What cameras did you use in the late 80s and early 90s?

In the 80s it was a Nikon F Photomic and Nikkormat FTn. In the 90s A Canon Rebel, which was cheaper than the Nikons at the time. I still have the Photomic and the Rebel.

I'm not sure when the Oly came into our possession but I think it was about the time frame asked about in the original post, and yes, I still have all these cameras.

Simplicity. I like it!

I also wish I had followed this poster's approach to photography... The $$ I would have saved (sighs).

I think that's it. Except for the Nikon FE that I bought from Columbus Camera Group that had a bad shutter, and they wouldn't give me my money back. I only ran a couple of rolls through that junker before making it a shelf queen. The Polaroid was my favorite until I couldn't get film for it anymore. The Minolta 16 was interesting for taking surreptitious photos at work. The 110 Zoom was my last foray into that format. I used the Crown Graphic mostly for Polaroids. The C330F, FM, and N90s were my money makers and were fully kitted out. The GTN was my only rangefinder for a long time and didn't get as much use as it should have.

It was a time of transition. I had been using a Canon F1 (original) system for years - two cameras with MF motors, 20, 35, 85, and 200 lenses, and was satisfied. Then I sold the weekly newspaper I owned and Canon transitioned to the EOS cameras and mounts. So I ditched the Canons, bought into the Olympus OM system, didn't gel with them, and turned to Nikon. During all that, still had an M4 and several rangefinder lenses. Still have occasional regrets about dumping the Canon, done at lease on a partially emotional level to express my disapproval at being abandoned by a company whose products I had embraced. Don't think Canon knew or cared.

I owned many other cameras that I did not use regularly including Mamiya c330 and Rollei 35 which I sold and now wish I had kept, of course…

After buying my Nikon FE-2 in 1983 and using it through the early 90's, my first AF camera was a used Nikon N2020. It was much slower than the wiz bang 8008's and N90's, but so much more affordable. I always said I could manually focus faster than the early AF cameras, but eventually, after trying out an N90S, that was it! Many manual Nikkors were traded for a few AF Nikkor zooms, and photography became a lot easier, although I'll have to say, not as much fun. Then I discovered a Leica IIIF RD. It was back to the basics and the collection continues today....
