Nice camera and nice photos as well, Gil. The M2 really is a wonderful camera.
But what a coincidence: just the other day my wife talked to me about the enchanted kingdom and how we enjoyed the rides there. It has been almost a year to the day we've been there now.
Hi Yoyo, are you from Philippines? Enchanted Kingdom is very near my home so went there to test my 1st roll with M2.
My wife is from Philippines (San Pedro, Laguna) - we live in Germany. Next march we'll be going there again for some four weeks of vacation. I hope I won't melt in the summer heat. 😉
m2 was my first leica too:0 and the last one, so far🙂
lovely camera, isn't it?
Good to hear you're having fun with the M2 and also some great shots there.
I'm picking my M2 up tomorrow all being well!
Hi Gil, congratulations!
My first was also an M2, with a Summicron 35 (6 elements). Still could recall the joy of owning my first Leica and carrying it all around, having to meter every time before the actual shot was done, and changing the film in the street while the mobile phone started to ring.
A few years later I sold the M2 to a friend. I think he still got it in his collection. When I sold it to him, the only thing I asked for was if he ever sell it out again he should ask me before any other potential buyer.
Then another few years passed by I found myself buying back an M2 again. I love everything on an M2. The humble film counter, the simple frame-lines, and unlike the M4, the film lever and self-timer are in metal.
Recently I'm using an M8.2 all the time. But I'm sure there'll come a time when I feel the bug of film again I'll pick out the old pal from the cabinet.
Have fun with your M2!
Eric
Well I was a bit worried when I tested the camera dry firing at all speeds. I heard a slight whirring sound at speeds lower than 30 until I read somewhere that this is normal with Leica cloth shutter curtains.
