I was just flicking through posts and came across this.

"Most of my lenses are 1m, but I have a few that will go closer (the VC 21/4 is marked to .5m for instance).

The RF mechanism on the Canon P disconnects at .7m though. So coupled focus is not possible closer than that".

So this means i can not take pictures within 7 meters, so no close up portraits ? .

Many Thanks Kane.

You can but you'd have to scale focus which would be tricky at such a short distance.:)

See i am only 15 and im biding on my first vintage rf a canon p, sorry sounds real dumb but does 7m stand for 7 meters of diffrent ?.

What other rf would you recomend other then a Canon P which focases within 7 meters at the same sort of price range ?

Kane.

.7 of a meter would be the minimum focusing distance of the rangefinder of the Canon I would imagine. As said the rf mechanism will disconnect at any lesser distance than .7 even if the mounted lens has the capability
to go closer. From memory my 25mm Zeiss disconnects below a similar distance on my Ikon.

Anything below .7 of a meter is not rangefinder territory ... if you wanted to consistently shoot closer than this you'd need an SLR.
