What a great thread - some lovely work. It's a real treat to see people sharing photographs of their precious family as being their favourites. Most of my favourite work is of close family and friends, of life as we live it. Yet this work is so often derided/ignored in the more strident photographic world.
Here's today's favourite - not necessarily my best of 2008! - which I shot as my daughter (age 6) and class mates got ready for their school Christmas play last week. DSLR in the dark church building. Missed focus, but still love the print on my desk

Sunsation 2008
A picture from Sunsation 2008, a rather small and peculiar festival near Lelystad, The Netherlands, to celebrate the longest day. Took place on June 21st from 05:00 till 09:00 in the morning: songs, music and poetry galore!

The best camera is one that still works!

For me it was this pic of my dad sat on his bench outside his home-office from the first test roll with my J-12 on a light leaking FED-2. one of the few that made it out alive

Samuel's Daughter and Samuel.
They run a cafe.
The new non-smoking law requires them to step outside for a cigarette many times every day.

Work is Finished
So, a beer (or three), perhaps a shower at home, then back here later.

Our daughter Berta, born in February:
actually, whole series from her birth is that I am proud of (besides her herself, of course): whole set of photos from that day
and second one - a photo from the concert of Peppe Voltarelli
all shot with the Hexar RF, first set with CV 1.9/28 and the concert with Summitar.

You're probably all seen these a million times this year, but I really love them both.

...but in the end it's all about family, isn't it?
Not for all of us. Look at my photos and find 'family'. No, they do not exist.
Where are Henri Cartier-Bresson's family photos? Or Martin Parr's? Or Lise Sarfati's? And so on.
