What a great thread. Thanks for starting it!
Here's one that turned out OK.

This is one of the most outstanding examples of capturing a moment I've ever seen. The framing of the canidate around the participant's arm in the foreground, the partipant's gesture in itself, the banner on the rignt, and the crowd, all combine to make a compelling image, regardless of your political persuasion. Extremely well done!
Thanks for the very kind words, Samuel. This was shot back in February in Dallas. I later sold the shot through a stock agency. It is to be used in a history textbook sometime in 2010 or 2011. Thanks once again.
For those interested, the camera was a Lumix L1 with a Leica 14-50 zoom.

I just wanted to add that there is some excellent work on this thread. It has been a real pleasure to view all of the photos.
Merry Christmas to everyone and may this new year bring peace to everyone, everywhere.

Tough choice. This could be my favorite of the year.

My best picture this year? Tough question, but I think this is it: Late afternoon at the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico (M8, 'cron 2.0/35).

These three are some of my favorites, they were taken the first day I got the Hexanon 50/1.2. I took a lot of photos this year so the choice is difficult.

I like the series but prefer the first one very much. Which camera?

I doubt these are the ones anyone else would choose, but they are my favorite two photos (I think, hard to remember all of them) from the past year:

There is some incredibly beautiful work in this thread.
I can't really choose a single shot but here's one I really like:
Photographically, it's been a mixed year for me - I've managed to do some travel and create some great photo opportunities but I've been broke and have had some gear issues. My dSLR was stolen, problems with a CLA on my M3, and now my scanner has died.

Not for all of us. Look at my photos and find 'family'. No, they do not exist.
Where are Henri Cartier-Bresson's family photos? Or Martin Parr's? Or Lise Sarfati's? And so on.
You really think those Photography masters wouldn't choose an image of their little Kid or Grand Kid as a personal favorite, if they had to choose?
No matter how good images I make, in the end a photograph of a member of my family will surely win my heart over any other photograph. It's only normal.
But I must ask: Do you really compare yourself to HCB or Martin Parr?

I don't have a "best" photo, but I do have a couple favorites...
