It's a Zeiss Ikon Nettar 1231/16 (what's written on the leather case.) All seems to be functioning great, and it is in excellent condition. No wear whatsoever, even on the leather casing...

Now, when I got it, it still has a roll of film in it. I have no idea how to rewind the film, and for that matter, how to put film in. I figured out how to set aperture and shutter, as well as the lever to cock the shutter. Any one can help how to remove the film? The folder btw is a novar anastigmat 75mm f:3.5 nothing fancy... the shutter speed goes up to 1/200 only, though the "setting" of the shutter speed extends a little bit further (it was advertised as going up to 1/250).

Any help? Tips? Instructions? Thanks!
 
120 film is not rewound - you wind it from one spool to the other.

When finished with a film, completely wind it to the taking spool, open the camera, remove the taking spool, fold under the tapered end of the backing paper and secure it with the attached bit of adhesive tape.

To load film, move the empty spool from the giving to the taking side. Remove adhesive from the new film, insert the film into camera and tapered paper end into the taking spool (black inside faces towards the film window). On cameras with automatic film counter follow the camera specific instructions (lining up the start mark with the on camera mark usually is part of the procedure), on other cameras, transport by marks and numbers in red window.

If it uses 120 film then it doesn't rewind - it simply goes from one spool to the other and the spool full of used film at the end goes to the developer.

think you have the model number mixed up though

Please do post a photo of it. I've been hearing about the 1231/16 for some time now, and there are a lot of websites that google turns up when you search for Nettar 1231/16, but not one of them has a photo of it.

i cant seem to find anything on Nettar 1231/16 on google...got any links? maybe my google doesnt work lol.

at any rate 12XX is product code Zeiss Ikon used for cases. the camera will have a different model number
 
Ok... did a little manual inspection, and the case was indeed the one with the 1231/16 designation. The camera had 517/16 on it... whew. I finally was able to remove the film, but the paper from the old film was stuck to the film backing plate. I had to scrape off the pieces of paper stuck to the plate so now the camera is "less" mint than it is hehe... will try to post some pictures later. Haven't put in some film yet, since my light meter has no batteries, and the accessory rangefinder I got for it is in feet! Oh well, a little math wouldn't hurt. Still, anyone wanna trade a rangefinder accessory in meters for one in feet? hehehe...

The leather case is in mint condition, save for some creases in the folds, but when first held and seen, I'd swear it came right off the box! It smells "old/new" leather, if you know what I mean. The camera itself looks mighty excellent as well...

Notice that 90% or so of the stuff is not in English. Also, note that there are no photos of a 1231/16. We had a thread here a few months back with another guy who said he had a 1231/16 too.
 
Thanks fallisphoto. I bought the rangefinder before the camera came. And since here in the Philippines, we rarely measure in meters, finding an accessory rangefinder in meters is very difficult... thanks again. Hope I don't have to look for one in fleabay...
 
If there's film in the camera already....be sure to have that roll developed! Who know what may be on there -- maybe nothing, but maybe some ancient treasures.

I think this one came from the factory with a thicker "foot" than normal. Someone has apparently flled some metal off of it -- pesumably to get it to fit into a shoe. In the process of dong that, they loosened up the "foot" a bit, but not much and it would be easy to fix. Frankly, it isn't enough of a problem that I ever bothered. Still interested?

I know just what you mean. I got this thing way back and was not expecting it to be in meters. I had an Isolette that was calibrated in meters too, for a while, but I sold it and I have other accessory rangefinders, in feet, and so it doesn't get any use now.
 
one of these days you Yanks will finaly see the light and fully intergrate the decimal system! when i am not sure, but i know you wll because in Star Trek and some other movies set in the future and they are deimal.

its a pain to change and costs a bit to change over but only gets more exspensive the longer you leave it..maybe your new prez will bite the bullet...he seems to be overturning some past decisions 😀

I hope not. I wear size 12 shoes, so if I am using a ranging camera, I can measure off anything up to 50 feet fairly accurately just by "heel-and-toeing" it.

Yeah, our new dictator's overturning some decisions all right. The problem is that this includes some that we all voted for.
