Please help me decide

Similar to your consideration before I pursued my Leica M, but finally I still bought a brand new MP, black lacquer, cause I knew little about Leica M before, pursuing a 2nd is risky.

limited to the budget, I only bought a Summicron 1:2/50 along:)

...What is the difference in feel to the two cameras,M7 MP,apart from the auto exp and shutter dial direction,is there a difference in quality between these two,I seem to have read more ooohhs and aaahhs over the MP and am wondering why that is.Is it due to literal differences in construction or is this from a purely emotional response...
Neil there isn't that much really. I use both (but recently mainly the MPs) and I can't tell a difference. Both have excellent build quality and are great to use. The M7 has a slightly quieter shutter, especially at the slower speeds. I think the ooohs and aaahs over the MP are about the looks and the fact that it is like the bodies from the M3/M2 era.

As you're used to an FM2, you'll almost certainly want a meter. The M6 is the obvious choice. Depending on the lenses you plan to use, you might consider a 0.85X finder for greater focussing accuracy.

Sound advice..

Can I add a question here rather than start a new thread as its relevent more or less.

Neil, the looks and the feel of the smooth-working brass gears in the MP.

Purely emotional. They are both fantastic (I have two MPs and an M7). Were I to choose, I'd probably go for the MP as I'm used to metering with it and the shutter-speed goes the right way! The M7 however is supremely versatile, with AE and TTL flash.

HOWEVER - my advice would be to scrimp on the camera (relatively speaking) and shell out on the lenses.

Any metered M, as long as you ignore the M7's AE, will work about the same (I love my MPs + M7, but you can't go wrong with a mint M6) so invest in either a 50 Summilux ASPH as an only lense (f1.4 - probably the best lense ever made) or if you want a wider spectrum, a 35 Summicron (f2.0) and a 90 Elmar (f2.8).
