hi everyone, just got the new m-mount heliar in the postbox and did a few test shots without a vf with it. focusing works flawless and build quality is really nice. will post a few photos in the next days when the D vf arrives. anyone else?

I'm still waitng for mine (old version) to arrive. Hopefully it will arrive before the Manchester RFF meet on Saturday.

I sold my LTM 15 about a month ago and will buy the new one. Looking forward to your pics marban. Welcome to the forum BTW! :)

Great, would you have some pics to show how's vignetting with it?

ok, here's a quick shot driving home from the grocery store - the first is unedited, the second with 15mm focal length set in epson raw.

I had the older LTM and now the M mount. The older one is more compact and discreet but the new one can take filters which is a big plus. Both are gems.

Absolutely not sick of it - love the focal length, and I don't have an M8. I'm a B&W film shooter and I use filters, and this thing takes 52mm filters which is a standard Nikon size. :)

Its so funny, here in Germany you could buy the old Lens for 399.- euro and the new one for 439.- euro by the same dealer, but if you must buy a m39 to M Mount Adapter for the old one, you pay over 450.- euro for lens and adapter, more than the new one .. hahaha

i think the old once is very good, but now it must be cheaper, right ?

I think that Cameraquest sells the VF for $128, and to me that's a fair amount of money.

The new lens is now being sold on eBay by Photo Village. Unfortunately that dealer doesn't take PayPal so you can't use Microsoft Cashback... :(

btw, i bought mine at a local shop in austria for €420 and the D VF from cameraquest for the price peter mentioned.

If the optical quality hasn't changed, it's a lens to love. (I understand the M-mount 28mm f/2 doesn't perform as well as the LTM f/1.9, though I haven't tried the M-version myself, it's just hearsay, and I tend to put very little trust, if any, in online lens reviews). What I like best about the original version is how tiny it is, considering I rarely use it. I added permanent 39mm filter threads by epoxying an empty brass filter rim (minus the male threads which I ground off) inboard of the hood fins. I'm not sure how much of a noticeable benefit rangefinder coupling would be for me, as I tend mostly to hyperfocal even my 21mm lenses that do couple (biasing the set point if the main subject falls much closer or farther from the hyperfocal distance). If and when I spy a used one I might give it a try.
