I read this tonight and thought I would share it here.
I was wondering when he would get to street photography. The whole "how not to photograph" series Colin Pantall is writing is a riot, check out some of the others as well, it is inspiring in a very strange way. I always have a smile on my face by the time I'm done reading.

Good stuff. I like the way he quickly touches on a few photographers/topics so if something catches my interest I can search out additional info rather than him blathering on endlessly about how much he knows about everything.
I recently read the book he references in this entry http://colinpantall.blogspot.com/2009/03/deadpan.html called The Photograph as Contemporary Art by Charlotte Cotton. Good book, short but covers quite a bit of territory.

Shaken, so blurred
Read all his "How not to Photograph" posts, which was a worthwhile exercise in making me think a bit, while raising a chuckle or two. There's plenty more at his blog so I'll no doubt revisit.
Thanks for the link.

It's a good article, though he seems to start tripping over himself --wanting to be humorously brutal, not wanting to offend, underscoring his own humility and by extension, his superiority. My kind of guy!
It's true, the rationale for taking (and worse, posting) street photos can get insufferable, but so can the critiques of the rationale.
I really like most of my street shots I post. I can give reasons why I like them, but few have to do with their artfulness. And I'm well aware that when I'm talking about my photos, I'm really talking about me.
Which brings me to Pantell's photo posted at the top of his article. I think he must like that photo a lot. But I wonder why. I think I'd have as much to learn by having him explain why he selected that photo than by reading the article.
