Is there a way to adjust the focus on the CanoScan 8800F? I'm using the OEM film holders with Vuescan. All of my scans are soft when compared to my prints. Any advice 8800F users can give? Thanks!

Can try using post it notes to raise the holders a bit. Of course, if they need to be lowered for proper focus - then that wont help.

In my experience the 8800 is, much like the epson v700, pretty soft. That is the nature of the beast.

I guess you're right. I remember reading a review a while back that said that the perfect focus point was BELOW the glass! Does the 8800F have focus adjust?

No idea. Check your manual or call tech support?

I had problems mostly with 120 film, and I got some improvements using a 2 mm ordinary glass plate over the film (the glass is cut precisely the size of the empty space in the film holder). I must add that I use Shanghai film, and it curls a lot, so the glass made some difference - it is not yet the perfect solution, however. I've tried it also with 35 mm film, but there was no remarkable difference.

I have used glass over the film also but I see no difference. Plus, I was getting Newton rings so I stopped that.
