My 2 lens project is working in that I worry more about what to shoot next than what to get next. I miss using color and my other stuff though.

No I have one (soon to be 2 😱)

I'm looking to trade one for a cv 1.2/35mm.

Exploration into new tools will not stop for me or likely anyone here.
The point of the Post was to hear some positive feelings from folks about their current kit and RF offerings in general.
All the talk of M9, the Micro 4/3 race, Noktilux shortage, Nokton 1.1/50mm disappointments ( what? ..disappointment?).
What should be, what should not, why so epensive, why no OVF, etc.......
It just seemed like a good time to look at what we have and what is on offer.
Looks pretty good for RF shooters and photography in general. 😀
 
I've loved my ZI and 35mm biogon since the day I got them. I love shooting them far more than the Contax G2 I had previously, and I love having just that one lens (though a second is on the way) rather than the 4 I had with the G2. I'll just say it...The ZI HAS improved my photography. Period.

But I do have three MF cameras that I'm thinking of selling. It bothers me a bit that they largely sit there and represent money I could use for other purposes (not to mention putting them in the hands of someone who would use them regularly).

I do not own a camera and if I did I would not be happy with it. I'm afraid that if I buy one now, they will only come out with a better one soon after. I'm waiting for the perfect camera. ...I heard it's coming soon.
 
About the only things I lust after are some things that I foolishly sold or were stolen. I'd love to have my stolen 150mm f/2.3 Astro Pan Tachar, or the 100mm f/2 Angenieux or the 50mm f/1.4 Nikkor. Still, though, you can only shoot with one at a time and you can't carry them all. By modern standards they all flare and aren't exactly sharp. That' why I miss them.

I am not only conempt with what I have, sometimes I even got the feeling that I have too much! To be honest, sometimes I get the impression that owning too much gear distracts me from photography instead of helping me to advance further. I used to roam flea markets for obsolete and interesting cameras and I still do, but nowadays I seldomly do buy something.

What helped me to reduce my desire for new gear was buying a Bessa R and a Bessa T. Saving up and getting something reasonable in the first place may be a wiser decision for the beginning camera aficionado/a compared with spending a lot of money on different, less capable cameras that end up on the shelf, in the box, in the trash anyhow.

But on the other hand, I had some fun with fixing the pad of a Yashica Electro, with going into the innards of the Pouva Start's simple shutter, with fixing two Olympus Trips, disassembling the Jupiter 8 and Industar 61 L/D and studying the Zorki 4.

Couldn't agree more. But you need to buy the trash before you come to this realization.

I'm more than happy with what I have now.

Still working to reduce it to the minimum (getting harder because I have less and less to let go), but I also have a small allowance for little curiosities that float my way every once in a while. 😉
 
As an amendment to my earlier post I have decided to get a Canon 5D and adpter for my Zuiko lenses. The total conviction that I will never be able to afford an M9 and the desire to go a little beyond my M8's capabilities occasionally with digital have brought about this decision.

So yes ... I'm almost 'done' but will be more 'done' soon! 😛
 
For the time being yes. I have my 1Ds with a 35L and 85L and I really love all. I know they are huge but I love that viewfinder. I also have a Nikon F3hp with 5 lenses that I used to use but not anymore. I am all about instant digital gratification I am afraid. I hope Nikon comes up with a digital version of the F3. That would rock. In the meantime I will continue using my 1Ds which every dpreview geek will tell you has the worst noise than any other camera.
 
Am I happy with what my gear? Almost certainly. With a Hexar RF and my pride and joy, a Leica M6ttl bought new 3 years ago and 8 M and LTM lenses to use with them, there's little else on the desperately required list: though I'd love the dual Hex the perfect hiking lens. Sighhh!!! But the siren call of digital is never far away. I've never owned a camera in this format but admit to having seriously considered the D700. However I think the M9 is going to be almost impossible to resist. So guys please don't find faults with it.
 
I love my trad handing Leica Dig 3 and L1 body ' twin ' and adapted Rokkors , plus my once in a lifetime dream camera M 8 and vintage lenses .
I also love surrounding and grounding Autsitic me with Kievs Feds and Zorkis !
 
I always resist questions about happiness because I think it is way overrated and that there are more important things about life, like sharing and justice. Photography shouldn't be just about "taking".

I'll be the first to admit though that I'm unhappy because I still haven't learned how to take the photos I want!

The gear I have doesn't cover all the bases/functions I'd like. I'd still like an MF folder option, a lowlight high ISO digital option, etc. etc. Yet I decided instead to concentrate on one system (M mount RF) and make it as cool as I could. Maybe one day I will be able to move into another system.

I always have a wish list in mind, yet make sure to cut the cord between it and happiness. Inevitably it grows back, so I have to cut it again.

The M9 is very tempting but it isn't exactly what I want either. I'd rather have a 10-12 MP with 6400 or better clean ISO version.
 
I rarely sell anything, and it just accumulates. It's gotten to the point that items offered for sale tend to fall into two main categories: firstly "not my style" like square-format stuff and Canikon dSLRs, and secondly when I already have one or two items like that, maybe the same or better or almost as good. Same with trade classifieds; not unusual for me to have one or two of each side of the offer. So I'm "done" as discussed in that old "Are You Done?" thread. OTOH I admire the new M9, and I've occasionally been tempted by an XPanII which might offer a new way of shooting. 😀
 
New to film .. again

New to film .. again

I just changed everything photographic. I was about to sell my unused film cameras, but decided that I had better give them one last try prior to selling. I've not shot film since 2002. I pulled out my Mamiya 7 and 7II and put through a few rolls of Astia. Well, I was totally blown away. So, I decided to keep the '7's and just sell my Bronica and Contax G2 systems. Well, I had better try the G2. Bad idea.. I loved the small format, but preferred the manual focus of the '7's. Just today I picked up my last lens. In the last couple of months I picked up an Ikon ZM, four lenses and two scanners. I'm now actually carrying cameras and having them with me when I want to shoot. My Canon 1DMKIII just went back to Canon for a full cleaning and adjustment.. it already was like new.. and I'll be putting it up for sale with a Mac warranty. I'll keep my Canon lenses, but I'm going all film until I find a small form digital that strikes me as a good value. Maybe that is an M9, but right now I'm having fun again with photography. I thank this forum and all the many B&W photos that convinced me that digital wasn't the only game. I am satisfied, but poor.
