i guess that's not helping.
Haha, that's alright. I've been leaning heavily towards the Mamiya the more I read about and see results from it.
i guess that's not helping.
I always resist questions about happiness because I think it is way overrated and that there are more important things about life, like sharing and justice.
Ok, here's my stupid question. I guess this is the place to ask it.....
I often read about people wanting more/the latest equipment, and having GAS.
What is GAS? I'm guessing: Gear - something - something?
Thanks.
By the way. I'm very happy with what I have. A Leica M8 with one Leica Elmarit 2.8, and all the other lenses CV - and, one of my favorites, my HOLGA. I love my Holga, all $27 dollars of it. Lots of fun.

simplicity - yes!....magic...mmm?, don't you ever want or need to do some close-up or sports/action stuff?I'm right in the middle of changing careers, which now makes me a hobbyist instead of a professional. Because of the change, I'm free to sell and buy gear b/c of my wants, not due to what is required for work.
And what was my first action? Sell all of my DSLR gear and buy an M6 (1997) and current version of the 50mm Summicron. Now I'm happy as a clam - simplicity, and Leica magic!
What helped me to reduce my desire for new gear was buying a Bessa R and a Bessa T. Saving up and getting something reasonable in the first place may be a wiser decision for the beginning camera aficionado/a compared with spending a lot of money on different, less capable cameras that end up on the shelf, in the box, in the trash anyhow.
But on the other hand, I had some fun with fixing the pad of a Yashica Electro, with going into the innards of the Pouva Start's simple shutter, with fixing two Olympus Trips, disassembling the Jupiter 8 and Industar 61 L/D and studying the Zorki 4.
