It's the wanting that makes me happy. Once I get it, I put it on the shelf and I have to want something else to be happy. Sometimes, when it comes in the mail, I don't even bother to open the box.
i totally agree , is the wanting making me happier than the pics i shoot ,

Yes I'm happy with my gear. I guess I just don't give a fat rat's ass about all the digital crap that is out there or agonize over which 50mm lens is best for me! I just go with what I have and make pictures.
I often feel that RFF is too gear driven, without enough real PHOTOGRAPHY related discussions to make this site worthwhile any more. I wish that there was an "Ignore Thread" feature here like they have over at APUG. At times there are too many inane threads to wade through to find anything of interest.
I have good equipment, but I don't feel the need to list it all in my signature just to impress the GASBAGS.![]()
Me too! Exactly the way I feel. The thing that makes me happiest is using my equipment. It might as well be a rock if it's not making images.

We're all light!
And so...the last new camera gear I ever bought was my Hexar RF setup in 2002. Haven't bought any new gear since.
On the post-shoot side, I bought my Minolta DS 5400 film scanner new in 2004. It's been in more-or-less constant use since then, and hasn't left me wanting.
There have been bits of used gear here and there: on the camera side, the most significant bits have been a Konica Auto S3 from about two years back, and a wonderful Contax Tvs from a few months back, with an Evil SLR in between (Olympus OM-2n, but that was a gift from a friend); on the post-shoot end (again), I got a tabloid-size UMAX flatbed scanner with tranny adapter, which has been worth its weight in gold. Then there's the borrowed-on-extended-loan Olympus C-8080 digital.
I really do have mostly all I need/want: the only thing possibly on the horizon for me is Panasonic's GF-1, together with 20mm f/1.7 and short-zoom lens, and EVF. Hardly a necessity for me, but my first choice for replacing the C-8080, as I eventually must.
(Ah...forgot the Leica M2/1-gen 35 f/2 Summicron combo I have, also on extended loan, with hopeful option to eventually buy.)
In the main, I'm mighty satisfied with what I have. The only things I could want right now are (1) a dedicated film 'fridge (so galfriend can stop carping about the space I'm taking up in the kitchen refrigerator), and, far more important than any of this, time...to walk, poke around, ponder, and photograph, usually in that order. Without time, the rest is meaningless.
I'm working on it.

Photography, like all arts involving equipment, rides a tightrope. While I'm sure that Jimi could play a $5 pawnshop guitar in such a way as to blow me out of the water with a Fender, I'm also confident that most artists are more effective when they find the tool that allows them freest expression of intent.
The economy is in turmoil. Everyone's upgrading or downsizing. I just wish everyone luck in finding their happy place vis-a-vis personal expression and financial stability. If you're already there, you are the envy of many.
