Keith, I think so. It gives me a deep black compare to other film
and I can find this PR400 much easier in my place too.

At the early rolls I really curious about the result and I love it.

I also like the look of Neopan 400 @240, but on my last developed batch, noticed more grain than I would prefer and remember it used to have. (Used 35mm, enlarged up to 11x14, Xtol 1:1, 10 second initial agitation, 5 second agitation every 30 seconds, total 8:30).

If my memory is correct, there is less grain in Neopan compared to Tri X shot and developed with the above protocol but my present results point to equal grain.

Is my agitation schedule too aggressive which brought out more grain? Still don't have a scanner so I can't post examples yet.

🙂 ...for me I have NOTICED a definite DIFFERENCE
lots of agiation = grain / very little agitation = smooth

One of the deciders in returning to Neopan was the availability of Legacy Pro from Freestyle ... I like to bulk load to minimise costs and when Fuji stopped supplying film in 100ft rolls I bought a couple of rolls of Tri-X asuming it would be as good as or possibly better than the Neopan and I wouldn't miss the Fuji. 🙄

I would never slam the Kodak because it is a good film but how your images look is a very personal thing and for me Neopan does the job better. I now have a couple of hundred feet of Legacy Pro 400 and 100 in the cupboard! 🙂

I remember reading in a thread a while ago that our own Roger Hicks really dislikes Neopan! 😀

Keith, I'm seriously considering it despite the shipping costs and customs. In Europe I was able to find Legacy Pro in two e-shops but not the 100ft bulk rolls.

This is from a roll of 120 Acros that was exposed at least five years ago. The roll sat in a drawer until I developed it this summer. I used a one hour stand development in Rodinal (1:100).

Day ago I received 100ft rolls from http://generalphoto.eu/ (Germany). They started operations at desperate moment when I was ready to go for expenses getting LegacyPro stuff from USA. I asked if they will have bulk film and they quickly populated web shop with items I asked for. Now I see they have extended selection further.

I love these tones. May I be so bold as to ask your Rodinal dilution and agitation technique for Neopan 1600?? I normally agitate for the first minute with Neopan 1600 (according to the instructions).

Steve/Bingley - I also love these tones. I was wondering if you could also divulge your methodology to arrive at this result? Do you agitate once a minute and for the whole of the first minute as Fuji recommends? I also really liked your 400 Neopan photo - what times in Rodinal do you recommend? (sorry to pry!)
