I have this light leak that seems to happen only when there is high contrast or strong lighting conditions such as under fluorescent lighting. Any idea what this could be? Thanks

I would check the seals on the back door. It's coming in from the side.

Does the light leak affect the negative strip in between the images?

Hi,
This is a recurring problem as a trawl through the posts will confirm. Its either the curtains are curling or the seals that sit on the inside of the mask that abutts the shutter assembly are faulty. The seal replacement is a simple job that takes about 2 hours otherwise its a curtain replacement which requires about 1/2 a day.

Best,

normclarke.

it is leak from the front if i am not wrong - if it is from the back it would be reddish color... so probably light sneak around curtains when changing lenses...

Thank you, Norm and Twok: I had an M6 that did the same thing and have several friends who have experienced it with M4s. The only mystery remains how Leica UK's service manager could have failed to have no clue as to what the problem might have been! This was a few years back, when I took camera and examples of the partly fogged pictures along to a local dealer's Leica day; I hope they've woken up to it now!

It blows my mind how unacceptable and how common this is.
