I am having trouble finding which lens hood I should get for my ultron 35mm/1.7.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

back to basics
The Leica 12585. Made for the Summicron 35 and 50mm lenses, but will clip onto the hood threads. Bigger and better than the tiny standard hood.

I got one a while back from HeavyStar on EvilBay, loved it. He has a better one now, with a lens cap!

I've purchased several times from him and had very very good service.

I bought an Ultron from another RFF member. He sent the standard hood, which I use because I find it convenient, plus a larger vented one. Glad to send you the second, which cost me nothing.

Do you have the original hood?
I list them at http://cameraquest.com/inventor.htm

I'm sorry to read this. Perhaps a bump will bring it to the notice of the recipient.

Ampguy, the problem that alexfan faces is that the camera will not focus.

Got it
Got it
I understand Mukul, and re-posted my response over on the OP's thread. With the HAF, the focus hold is the stepped shutter button, so I think it is likely that he has the sticky shutter, which in turn is giving him mis-focused resuts.
The HAF is not an RF, it's a P&S AF with no manual focus collar, but manual focus (or AF) by electro mechanical switches and an advanced stepper motor with 270 steps or so controlling the AF of the lens.

Thank you for explaining. I thought this black magic was restricted to digital cameras.
Are you serious about 270 steps? My one digicam, one of the better ones of the time, had only something like two and a quarter from "macro" to well beyond infinity.

I don't remember
I don't remember
It could be 240 steps or 170 steps, but it's a lot.
However, unlike modern DSLRs, it doesn't "track", so if you are following something moving, you have to continually let up, and press partly down to "lock" the focus. This is probably one reason why the switch contacts get dirty.
My first HAF from a few years back had this, and not much was known about the cleaning process, so I sold it for $100 as a parts camera telling the new owner he would likely need to find a replacement shutter switch.
Since then, one other of my 5 or so HAF's I have owned had this, and it was cleaned (free by a generous RFFer), so while I regret selling that first one, I now have two that I know will likely just need cleaning if the focus lock fails in the future.
