Why do we see so few used ZI's for sale?

You have NO IDEA what he exactly meant and to suggest it warrants contempt from you is fairly ignorant. My husband, who is also my best friend, might impulsively think he should sell something, but I may talk him out of it - because I know long-term he'll regret it. It has NOTHING to do with "meddling" and everything to do with actually caring about him. Not every husband expects or wants their wife to shut up and "butt out" of their "personal affairs".

Maybe, there is a ZI Monster out there that eats them up?
Or, users of ZI cameras hold on to them?

Thanks Amy, that's exactly my situation. Of course I'm *allowed* to sell my ZI, my wife just thinks I'd end up regretting it. It's no big deal.

The only downside to keeping it is that now I will want to buy more lenses for it 🙂

It is always disappointing to find out that a ludicrous post is an act of idiocy, not of humour.

Once can only hope Boniface has an equally stupid wife. And they've decided not to have children. Now that would be sordid.
 
It's the same w/ the Hexar RF. Hardly ever see one of these for sale either. Both cameras have great features, and are a heck of a lot cheaper than an M7. Almost bought a Hexar RF (there's one on the KEH website in Bgn condition for $480 something I think, which is a steal), but I backed out at the last minute. It's an all electronic camera w/ no support and a viewfinder mag of only .60. Of course, the correct thinking is that you can replace it 2 or 3 times for what an M7 costs, but I'd rather just buy an M6 w/ less features, but known reliability and high resale value. And it's a Leica.

My M6 is on it's way to youxin for a RF adjustment. So far i'am a little disappointed specially when i find my Canon QL17 is easier to focus than the leica. I'am starting to wonder if i should have gone with a zeiss. I was just scared off b/c i put it in the same group as the bessa R i owned (horrible loud raspy thing)

The Ikon is no Leica in it's shutter sound but it's a nice 'snick' none the less and nothing like the Bessa ... raspy is a good description for the Bessa OMO! I was using the Ikon the other night and someone next to me actually commented on how much they liked the sound of the Zeiss's shutter.

The position of the meter readout could be better though ... when you have optimum eye position for the rangefinder patch the meter readout tends to get hard to see. One of the few faults of a near perfect design IMO!

I honestly think people choose to keep them, you get used to the lightweight, the built in metering and the brilliant viewfinder. Why change?

That's probably my only real complaint with my ZM. I guess it's a factor of the viewfinder being so large, that the meter information is pushed a long way to the left, rather than being more central.

Honestly I was about to jump on your VC meter the other day... thought the better of it. Nice beaten up M3 btw =)
