Fed 3 Focusing problem, help!

Today I picked up my Zorki-4K that happened to be next to my computer and played with it while I was waiting for a Web page to load. Guess what- the Rf image did not move when I focussed! I didn't curse Soviet industry and look for a German camera. I unscrewed the lens and quickly found that the rangefinder arm pivot was seizing. I applied a tiny drop of oil and normal operation was restored.

However, the ignore list is an imperfect solution. You cannot follow a conversation among many people if you cannot hear all of them. I understand, of course, that you may be averse to foul odours.

Yes, that's one way to see it. However, I find that anything people like him inject into this forum, as well as what's said in direct response, is just noise. I prefer to tune it out.

David Hughes, you were right, I just adjusted the metal piece that juts out after unscrewing the lens. It was pressed all the way down and so it was not touching the lens at all. yes! thank you for the help David and to everyone else for their suggestions and ideas, I really appreciate it. going to go out and shoot now.

BRAVO! Now you need to sight the moon and see if the two images in the centre circle merge when the lens is at the infinity mark. If they don't, someone here will tell you how to adjust the R/F.

Not at all; it's all part of the service...

Regards, David

PS And thank you so much for that feedback. It's really appreciated.

However It would be a disservice for me to tell anyone interested in interchangeable lens rangefinders anything else, in fact I'd be misrepresenting the truth as I see it - can't do that.
Perhaps you might like to read the OP again. You answered a question that was not asked and did nothing to contribute to an answer to the actual question. Would it be appropriate to post in the Diana/Polaroid/Pinhole or similar sub-forums and point out their folly? Perhaps not. Leaping in to other forums and condemning their followers isn't really in the spirit of RFF.

I'm very glad to see that this thread ended well. There's no accounting for taste. The OP stated that she loves the Fed-3 ... and why not? I love mine too. There's just something about a nice Fed.

Julia. Run a test roll. If it's not focusing properly you have to adjust the rangefinder. I hope you put the lens back on set at 1 meter focus. If not it may have put the close focus out of sync. But like payasam said this can be corrected.

yes sir boss
