on eBay Germany, there are plenty of black M2's for sale. Is this normal ? I thought black M2's were rather rare ?

Stefan

all of them are being offered by the same seller, photo-arsenal. they seem to find pretty amazing cameras and then sell(or try to sell) them for much more than they're worth.

Yeah...here in Tokyo, too. A black M2 will cost me a whole friggin' month's salary! Just cos it's colored black. Sheesh! I've got my sights set on a black M4, though. These are definitely affordable.

Ow c'mon! You cannot go around besmirching people's names like that and not provide details.

Details man, details!

The last I have seen locally (in December) was labeled 110.000 JPY. No idea if it was original BP though ...

M2 BLACK ? ...well heres a chrome M2 ....my M2 in a Different Skin....cameraleathers

Fair Enough....Brought and paid for 50mm Planar form them. Lens arrived with a visble crack thru one of of the internal elements which I had a well known London camera repairer examined with a written report and photograph which clearly stated the the lens had not been dropped or dissasembled befor her received. Complained at once on its arrival but was told I must have 'dropped it' LOL Returned lens and despite 27 phone calls most of which were received with offhand remarks and grunts. Made enquires thru many different photographic industry contacts and discovered this lens was originally sold to a dealer in Sweden 5 years earlier and returned by them to photo -arsenal as 'not fit for purpose'. Being a dealer they got their money returned .
Thru more contacts via British and German Police managed to find the owners cell phone number. Kept calling, remember he had the money and the lens and was fobbed off by just about every excuse available ( My daughters sick, My cars broken down, sick mother etcetc ad nauseum. (pardon pun).

Eventually German Police 'paid him a visit'
New lens arrived two days later .
Enough Said !!!!

I miss something in your report.

He didn't insult you?

In my experience, The Very Honourable Mr Boris loves to insult his unsatisfied customers.

Of which there are quite a few no doubt.

I believe the German Police informed him that he was dealing with a Former Royal Marine who had two 'very close family members' still serving (a family tradition) and that we were all very determined to meet him in person. Not that any of us would have done anything illegal of course.

Sometimes 'The guile works better than the strength'.

The new lens arrived without comment or insult.

Went there some time ago. Had some beers, in fact quite a few. Very nearly 'Failed to return '

har-har, "quite a few" meaning just "many" (wicked, not so bad) or "many" PLUS "various brands" (the other wicked, very bad:)

Back to topic LEICA:
I know, this forum isn't meant to scold dealers, but this *Gentleman* in Nürnberg (Nuernberg, Nuremberg) is indeed a "cas d'espèce", a special case.

He's absolutely unconcerned about unsatisfied customers ...

simply because he's the one, who has Leica's (R8, R9) remainder of stock!

(...) Sometimes 'The guile works better than the strength'.(...)

unanimous assent!

Erik, that camera is gorgeous. Clearly you don't use it often enough. Perhaps you'd like to sell it to me so it can get more exercise.:DVery jealous indeed.
