I read somewhere on Leica forum that lower-grade QC lenses were sold on the domestic market at reduced prices. When LLL lenses were selling for higher prices, I’m not sure if those $500 units were actually the lower-QC grade or not.

Mine worked out very well.... no complaints about the QC...& reasonably priced black paint 35mm lenses are hard to come by.

Why would you put new white paint over a worn meter?
Mine didn't bubble, but they did change the paint finish when the M4 was introduced.
Makes me wonder about that super clean MC meter.... is that paint original?
