Canon LTM Where have all the lenses gone?

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Fine by me. Have: 35, 50 and 90 LTM lenses (none of them Canon). Need: Body with a VF that I can actually see through with my glasses! Not complaining about that "glut" of bodies...

I have four, the 19mm F3.5, the 35mm F2, the 50mm F1.2, and the 85mm F1.5. Use them all quite a bit, keeping all of them.

The last one I want is the 35mm F1.5.

I have 2 LTM Canons - 50/1.5 "Sonnar" and 100/3.5 all black version. Yet I'm thinking to list them for sale soon.

For the guys with more than 4 lenses, now just how do often you use them?

And any one else notice there is ALWAYS a Leica body or two, up for sale in the Ads?

I've got a 50mm f/1.4 and a 35mm f/2.0. I can't find a 35mm f/1.5 anywhere in the world for sale. 6 months ago there were a bunch up for sale. Now that I'm looking for one, there are none around.

I can account for 8:
25/3.5
28/3.5
28/2.8
35/2.8
50/3.5
50/1.8
50/1.5
50/1.2

The 28/2.8 and 50/1.5 see the most use these days, though in the past the others got their time in the sun.

I'm looking for another 25/3.5 that won't break the bank, as mine has a lot of cleaning marks on the front glass. Not having much luck.

nice collection

nice collection

I also like the 28/2.8, fast and sharper than the 3.5 ones, if a good clean type 2 or type 3.

Igorcamera may have a 25/3.5.

Other than the 28/2.8, Leica lenses are generally better, though the Canons are all better than a CV or Zeiss Japan.

Completely subjective and sweeping statement, I am sure you will have at least a million disagreements,
Just the word "better" can relate to many aspects of a lens

In my experience, "Value" lenses are hard to part with. If I've got a $150 lens making me just as happy as a $500+ lens of the same FL, when it comes time to pare down I'm going to sell the one that nets more. So maybe people get their inexpensive Canons, recognize the value and stick with em.

I still see as many Canon RF lenses floating around eBay. Don't think the pool is drying up at all. Given that there's plenty produced during their time, I'm sure it should be no problem finding the lens of you choice. It's just a question of price. Those who are impatient usually pay more.

Cheers,

I probably have 25 or 50 collected over 3 decades. I never sell to fund new stuff.

Some day they will have to go, but for now.

Well, add my 5 x 50mm:

And 100/2 LTM

Prices are raising, and availability is really low. Don't know why, though....

i just bought 2 canon lens, which i thought was a decent price:

a. 1.5f canon
b. 1.8f black

both bought on ebay. Frankly, I think some of the lens are not lablled enough, instead of a "Leica" or "Serenar" tag, the 1.8f black lens was simply tagged as "Canon 50mm 1.8f LTM"

Hi fellow forum members,

for the past weeks I have been watching ebay, looking for Canon RF camera's and lenses, and I noticed that there are quite a lot of camera bodies for sale but much fewer lenses. I would expect that, in the past Canon would have sold maybe 2 lenses for every body, or thereabout, but on ebay the ratio is more like 1 to 10. Where have all the lenses gone?

Bart

If you read the responses in this thread, you will find a large part of the answer to your question.

I've got four btw. And they're all keepers... :)

So the mystery is solved! It's the rangefinder forum members who have been collecting al the lenses :). By the way, I have three lenses (35/2.8 , 50/1.8 and 135/3.5, all chrome). But since I also have two camera's I'm entitled to at least one additional lens. Although I'm afraid one won't be enough to fulfil my beginning RF-addiction :D. At the moment I'm looking for a nice (and cheap, I'm dutch, you know) 35/2.0 and 50/1.4 for my L1...

So for one Canon RF camera you are entitled to hoard two Canon RF lenses. I have one body and four lenses so I should put two of them on the market...

Nnnnooooooo.....

I must rush to buy an additional body!

hmmm.. So by using that formula, this stash will need 6 bodies?

It's a good thing that Canon has 30+ LTM bodies to choose from then!! Phew!
