Now we know where all the teles are.
Who has added up all these lenses? I think we lost the running total.

One day we will be too old for anything, so what's the use to hold on to all lenses? Let it go and enjoy other things in life too.

Okay, using Peter Dechert's and Peter Kitchingman's books I tried to count the number of RF-camera's and lenses produced by Canon (yes, I've got to much time on my hands. But today is my day off, taking care of our little girl and right now she's having her afternoon-nap) . Counting the number of camera's was quite easy, Peter Dechert has listed the (approximate) number of Camera's procduced for every type. Starting with the S-II he identifies 35 different models with a production total of 507.714 bodies.
Finding the number of lenses ever made was more difficult. I'm not even sure if I read Peter Kitchingman's numbers right, but I have simply added up the values he listed under "units". However, I get the impression the true number of lenses produced was somewhat lower, maybe about 15% lower. So my guestimate is that Canon has made about 700.000 lenses.
So every RF forum member is entitled to owning 1.5 lens per body. Which means I first have to buy another body before I can buy more lenses
. Of course the limitation only counts for Canon lenses, you can buy as many Leica, CV and Nikkor lenses as you like

Well-known
The price has been dropping lately FYI. They are still being sold regularly by dealers all over the world. Of course the rarer lenses are still hard to find. Nothing has changed. Life is good.

i noticed this "trend" about ebay auctions, the better the Dow Jones performs, the more willing people are to bidding up ebay auction prices. With the market dipping in the past week, i managed to snag some bargins on ebay.
I think behaviourist call this the Recency Effect.
Wonder if anyone noticed this too ?

Seems like overall the general public and the world is beginning to understand that the world economy is still very ill. "Look out below," I say. In drops and dips bargains can be found, but some people are accumulating "hard assets."
Not so sure we can blame the Chinese for this one.
