Well I tried bumping an earlier thread to ask this - but how stiff should the advance lever be when the shutter is cocked? After the shutter on my M4-2 is released it's relatively smooth to advance the lever all the way, but when the shutter is cocked, the lever feels a bit stiff. The camera recently had the viewfinder/rangefinder cleaned and the shutter was made a little quieter but I'm not sure what else was fixed.

Also, I read on Stephen Gandy's website that

Watch the closing edge of the 2nd shutter curtain. After the shutter trips, you SHOULD NOT be able to see the seam on the left hand side of the shutter. If you can, it is a sign the shutter needs servicing.

Even after the CLA I can still see the seam on the left hand side. The shutter does sound much quieter than before it was serviced. is this something to worry about?

Umm, after the film is advanced, and the shutter cocked, the film advance lever should only be able to move on its "pull out" range. It should pull out with a bit of resistance, then come to a dead stop.

Don't worry about the seam. Some M's show it, some don't.

Thanks Vickko, that's what I meant - pulling the lever out to make adjusting the shutter speed dial easier.
