domke f8 bag ?

I have a F6 Domke bag and love it. It doesn’t have any padding on the outer bag but the divided insert is well padded. There is plenty of room for a rf camera w/ lens and an extra body and several lenses and film or what ever you want. One of the things I like about it is that it’s soft and flexable. I also have a F8 and I really don’t like it. It’s well padded but doesn’t hold much at all and is way too bulky for such a small bag. For me the F6 if perfect. Sometimes it’s more than I want to carry so I bought a small Think Tank Belt bag that holds a couple of lenses or maybe a extra body and 1 lens. Jim
 
the f8 is padded?

i thought it was sort of a smaller version of the f6. i have an f6 but it can carry everything i own. i like the f6, mind you, but i rarely need it lately.
i have been using the terraclime 100 for a small kit and the f8 looked like it would do the same. i prefer domkes...
 
I use an f3x ruggedweAr and it is a smashing bag. It has carried an EOS 1DmkIIn and 5d with lenses with room for batteries etc. It hold a zeiss Ikon and M6 with lenses and 30 rolls of film with no sweat.

i don't like bags with side pouches on them. i used to use them for fresh/exposed film but don't have that need any longer.
 
Those side pockets are my favourite feature! Once the shi... Sorry! Once things hit the fan I can stuff and grab out of them in my sleep.

Ideally 1 rf an a 35mm with no bag is my preferred method of rollin'.

Actually you are right. I carry the F6 with my gear and sometimes leave it in the car. I pick out a body and walk with a lens or 2 in my pocket or in the small belt bag I mentioned. The f8 bag just seems too bulky to me to enjoy carrying. The outer size seems big compared with what it can hold. If you would like to try the F8, you are welcome to try mine but that may be more of a problem than it worth with customs etc. It’s just sitting here unappreciated.

i did look earlier but not at the numbers...but if it's smaller then it's a no go.
i have a 5xb and could always get another if really needed.

I spent the better part of an afternoon going through all the bags at B&H a few weeks ago and ended up ordering a Courierware extra-small bag online. Seems well made and definately doesn't look like a camera bag (my main concern).
 
I like the f8, I own a huge lowepro backpack bag for my slr kit that I sold. The f8 is nice will hold 1-2 rf bodies and a few lenses... it doesn't resemble a camera bag at all, looks like a messenger bag that some school kids might carry. As far as walking around with it all day... I find it pretty comfortable, if your out and it rains or you want to conceal your equip, for whatever reason it is quick to put away your equip or grab when needed. Though again, I was use to lugging the backpack with several slr bodies and a bunch of lenses...
 
I saw the F9 and it looked kinda nice. Ive been looking for a smaller bag (I have an F6) but haven't found one that would be ideal for a RF body with lens and a slot for 2 lenses. maybe the F8 or F9 would work out fine. but so far ive been using my F6, I just remove what I'm not gonna use for the occasion and I'm good to go. It's useful to have some spare space in case I find something interesting on the way (a tshirt - it fits! - some chocolate, anything random).
 
the lowepro terraclime 100 is ideal for a body with lens and one or 2 more lenses, i use those insulated holders that are supposed to keep your beer can cold to hold the extra lenses. i usually have to cut them down a bit as they are taller than almost all my lenses.

the 100 is not insulated and is very light, which is good, but sometimes i prefer the heavier canvas.
 
I just took a look at the f-8. It doesn't look right to me for R-D1 plus 2 lenses. The F-5XB would work, also the deeper version of it, whatever its number is.

But let me also suggest you take a look At the Lowepro Nova 1. I have a couple of these, and I think it would work very well. I can carry an XPAN with one extra lens in the nova 1, with room for filters, lens hoods, etc. It does have side pockets (that you don't like), but they are compact little mesh pockets that don't stick out.

There are a lot of choices when one realizes that not every bag we own has to be a Domke.
