Who uses rodinal for Tri-X400 and Acros100?

I want to avoid tests for Acros, and just find out if Tri-X times are in general a bit longer, shorter or the same... Thanks!

Cheers,

Juan

Juan: there can be no comparative times without knowing what e.i. you are shooting the Tri-X in that you are developing in Rodinal.

I have used a lot of Rodinal and think I get an effective e.i. of 250 from Neopan 400 & HP5. I have developed enough Tri-X to believe it should do the same.

You can shoot them at 400 and develop in Rodinal but the times you end up with give results that look like film pushed a stop to me.

Hi Bob,

I give Tri-X the light it needs... For soft light I meter incident at 200, or in camera at 400, and for direct sun (and shorter development for rich shadows and contrast control) I meter incident at 100 (50 with yellow filter) or at 200 in camera (TTL: with or without filter).

If some members tell me their times for both films (1+50), I can easily see which film requires more development, and I'll develop Acros based on my Tri-X times...

Thanks,

Juan

My Acros time is 125% of my iso 400 time. But I use at least a half stop more exposure for 400 film when developing in Rodinal than I would if I used HC-110.

I have used Rodinal to develop Acros and various iso 400 films in the same tank. Results are perfectly acceptable and well within the normal range of contrast adjustments.

FWIW, Agfa had published widely differing development charts for Rodinal over the years. Same dilution, same film, same temp but times that vary almost 50% from one chart to another (differing gammas). So if you compare the Agfa suggested time for one film to another, make sure they are from the same chart.

Thanks Bob!

Looks like soon I'll start shooting my 40 rolls of Acros (just for selective focus) and in a few days I'll develop Acros a few minutes longer than Tri-X... That will be close enough to perfect, I guess... I'm just too tired of testing, so I prefer shooting and fine tune with the first rolls of real shots... And thanks for the half stop more exposure info too... I'm also generous with rodinal...

Cheers,

Juan
