VivitarWide Angle P&S Camera

I tried out a dingy looking plastic camera by Vivitar. It has a 23mm lens with max aperture 6.0 or so [someone said it is f 11 ,, I forgot]. I loaded it up with Kodak 100 UC as I walked the streets of Washington DC.

It is different from a regular wided angle lens ... maybe like a Holga?

I have one of these, I love it. I've taken some of my fav shots with it, this camera made me enjoy the 22/21mm fov.

I was in DC with a Chinese friend, so we had to visit the [limited] China Town. We did not go to Ben's Chilli Bowl.

It was very sunny in DC, so I used ASA100 film.

Great pictures everyone. You guys must be talking about the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim. I have one of these NIB and have yet to put a roll of film through it. Looking at your pics makes me want to get it out and shoot some Ektar 100 through it. Maybe after Argus day.

The silly thing is that I had this camera in my camera bag every day for the past month,and it has vanished now.

I've been in this area about 23 years. I have yet to go to Ben's Chilli Bowl either. It is always the same for things where you are; "Oh, I will do it later," but later never seems to come.

Chinatown is indeed rather small, but bigger than most people assume. Most only see one street, and mainly one block of that. There is a little more, but not of such interest to most people.

Next time you come, you might want to try Annandale, Virginia. Not so much Chinese, but a lot of authentic Korean. And the Chinese there isn't so bad either. But if you like authentic Korean, it is the place to go.

There is probably a like place in Maryland, but I don't know that for sure.

You are probably like me (getting old 😀 ). I try to put things up in the same place all the time. If I get distracted and don't do so, it may take me days to find it again. 😀 😀

I quite like the Viv Ultra Wide and Slim. I tend to use it with 24 exposure rolls of cheap 200 ISO colour negative film and get some nice results.
I've heard advice against using 36 exposure films as they put more strain on the (rather flimsy) mechanism!

It is prone to flare, though!

I also have one of these 22mm Vivitar Ultra slim and wide - not yet looked at website, but remember a few years ago someone was adapting optics for Leica M (sunken mount) although don't know what results. I also use a Konica 'Wai-Wai' disposable (reloaded) of about 17mm - both give best result with B&W I think.
