Found a stash of Kodak 200 in garage

While I was getting some lawncare equipment out of the garage closets, I found a stash of 4 ea. of 7 pack Kodak 200 speed films. Looks like these have moved inside the closets as I have moved across the country. The expiration date is Nov 2005 or something. I am assuming these have been sitting in the garage in the summer heat and winter cold of Colorado for the last 5-6 years. This is exciting as I am trying to get back into films and my interest in Rangefinder cameras have been rejuvenated.

So what would you do in this case? One side of me tells me to ditch them and use fresh Ektars and BW400CNs I have been using. The other side tells met to shoot one or two and develop hem and see how they turn out.

I am curious as to what would the pundits here advise.

I expect color shift on them. You might try a roll for yourself, but do not use it for anything important. You never know until you try.

Try shooting a roll at 200 and a roll at 100 and see if either one produces usable results.

There will be a color shift which sometimes can be repaired digitally. But I have found that outdated film loses a couple of f-stops and that is harder to fix. I would overexpose slightly to be on the safe side.

Thanks for all your advice. I will shoot a couple, one at 100 and the other at 200 and see what happens. keeping my fingers crossed. not planning to shoot anything important.

Have Wal-Mart or Costco ($1.59 if you just get them developed) do them, at least the first 2 rolls, and see what is what.

Shoot one roll...one half at 200 and the other at 100...maybe bracket your shots and take notes of the whole roll...
I found a 4-pack of Kodak Gold 200 in our daughter's room, expiration date 02/2005...
I'm going to give C-41 developing a try...maybe I'll play with these rolls...

Here is a shot of expired Fuji HQ100 from2002. I shot last year. This film has never seen the inside of a freezer. I shoot expired film all the time.
