Hello,

Recently purchased a Hexar RF. After few good rolls the film counter automatically returns to 0 mid-roll randomly and advanced about three frames. I read on the internet someone has got such problem, too, but I see no answers. That was really annoying. Does anyone have any idea what happened and how to fix it? Many thanks in advance.

Jin

Thanks a lot Doug, I read through post but seems no one has such problem and I don't want to send that to repair at the moment. I removed the sticker around the film advance detector next to advance spool to make it look like the one on my Contax G. Will see if that helps. Jin

Hi Jin -- What you've described is exactly what my Hexar RF began doing upon its return from Precision Camera Repair; they fixed the rangefinder alignment but "broke" the film transport. It's back with them now for a third time, the second try to fix this film handling problem that you describe! Good luck with your experiments!

Hello Doug, good to know you now have a happy Hexar... I almost finish another roll, so far so good... Shouldn't be a problem with films I used which were of different brands. If that happened again I have to bring it to seller see what they can do:-(. Cheers, Jin.

I just bought Konica Hexar RF and it is a wonderful camera. Sad but it has same problem to reset counter. When I took pictures counter went to 9-11 and then reset to 0:

I found solution which may help:

I didn't have proper cleaning item, but when I clean rear door contacts with isopropanol, it did help. Next roll went to 24. Hope this is a solution.

I live in Finland and here we have no Konica Hexar specialists...

Yes. If you Google "DeOxit" and "Hexar RF", you should find the long-winded note I wrote on this issue (the movie is mine, as well).

Basically, a few drops of electronics contact cleaner in the rear door switch will fix this.

In fact it didn't help me so I sent Hexar to Helsinki camera repair shop Mustonen & Laine. They fixed it. There was some broken switch they repaired. Now it works.
