Leica M4 issue with strap rings?

Hi guys. I have a question for you.

I just got an M4 and when I tried to attach the strap, I noticed that the little rings attached to the body are slightly turned towards the front.
I hope this is clear as a description. If not I will attach a photo.

Is this normal?
The result is that when it hangs from your neck, it appears to point a bit upwards.

The straplugs have either been twisted or replaced (badly). Try to see if you can turn them by hand - if so it will probably mean that you have to replace them some time in the future. They should be "straight" down.
Sometimes you will find M's that have had the lugs replaced with "stock" lugs (3 mm diameter rivets) and those can be a loose fit and twist off-axis. The replacements should be 4 mm diameter with the hole reamed out. If they are solid on your camera (no movement, no loose "feel") - they will probably work fine - though, as you note" the camera hangs with the lens pointing "up".

Addendum: saw the picture of the camera - and, yes, they are twisted. On the other hand, if you intend to use it primarily with the Elmar 50f2.8 - I would not worry. It is a very lightweight lens and puts minimum stress on the lugs. IF, however. you start putting on heavier lenses, like vintage 90f2's or some of the 50's Canon/Nikon short teles I would have them replaced.

They are pretty secure like they are. They do not turn or feel flimsy in any way. Perhaps I ll check them on the next cla

Interesting, the lugs on my M4 were exactly the same, and tight. I sent it to CRR for a CLA and it came back with new lugs in the correct position. Not something I requested, but part of the excellent service that Peter provides - he misses nothing (including the fact that I had incorrect securing screws on the frame and S/T levers)!
