Hello,
I just wanted to ask: where is the best place to buy Leica M6, I presume it will be used one at this point.
I know of Keh and adorama, used them in the past, but the description of the cameras there are poor -they don't even show actual pictures of cameras.

Also, on the same subject, what should I be mindful of when I am buying first M6? I want TTL, and I dont have any lenses for them yet either...

Thanks a million!

I have been working with Tamarkin recently, and I really like them. You can talk to them on the phone, and they will pick up the actual camera or lens and look it over with regard to your specific questions.

Here at RFF is a great place to buy.

Thank you everybody for your responses. BUt I was hoping for more specifics..
I guess I should have clarified- I am by no means a camera collector. I just need a rangefinder to shoot pictures. I am not familiar with Leica, never owned this product, that's why questions - what to look for and so on.
Buying camera here is probably a good idea, in fact I bought couple things here before, but it's all collector's stuff (no offense, please), I need a camera with the warranty and ability to return if I don't like it.
Thank you again.

Tamarkin offers this.

Tamarkin and Classic Connection are places where you can talk to people familiar with the cameras and who can, and will, answer your questions and stand behind their products. I have bought new and used from both and have always found the cameras and lenses to be in good working condition. The M6, not the TTL, is more common. TTL on a Leica rangefinder is not the same as with the newer film and digital SLRs - for some reason, the M6 TTL and the M7 seem to fire the flash first to set the exposure and then fire it again when you take the photo. I've had better luck setting the flash on auto and using it that way. You'll also have a greater choice of flashes. BTW, the flash on an M6TTL only works if the battery's good; it works all the time on an M6 classic.

That's the things I wanted to talk about! I know I can talk to salesman, but I would rather talk to somebody who is not working on commissions...
If not TTL, how do I measure the exposure then?
What is .72 means? I resume it's viewfinder magnification? Is it critical or is there another options?
I am sure these questions were already asked here, is there threads to read?

I've seen plenty of user M-series rangefinders here...if you've got your heart set on an M6 above all else, then yes those cameras in user condition are rarer since they're newer.

If you're willing to, say, look at an M4/M4-P/M4-2, then you increase your odds. Up to you, really.

I've got a regular M6 (non TTL) I got from a friend...I never miss the TTL as the built in meter is fine.

I need a meter, and tTTL Is what I am familiar with, that's why.. How does the non-TTL work?

Glazer's Camera in Seattle have an M6 Titanium with matching lens right now. I was afraid to look at the price tag. They also have m8s for $2k even.

If you email me directly: HelenO@adorama.com, with the SKU number of the unit that interests you, I will arrange for our photographer to send you a selection of pictures.
If you provide a contact 'phone number, one of our team members can call you and give you a detailed description while he has the unit in his hands.

All used items from Adorama come with a 90-day warranty, which includes a 30-day returns period for exchange or refund.

Thank you for responding. I definitely will do this.
I am looking for Leica in full working condition, not a collectors piece - I WILL take it out and shoot pictures with it.
