Leica LTM Summitar the star...

Not really a fan of the colors an uncoated summitar produces myself:

I found an undeveloped film from 2 years ago in France - Summitar, M4, Delta 100.
Please excuse the drying marks :)

Splendide Mauro !!! Absolutely outstanding shots! I like very much the b&w photos from Taggia!
I posted some colour shots (Gold 200) I made with my Summitar in an other thread, here, but your images are... Well, a step forward!

Agreed. Nice shots Helen! I love the bokeh in your shots - very smoth. Different from mine (swirly) :)

Lovely shots Helen, They have a certain movie-still quality about them.

Hey Mr Fibble & Ray : Thanks sooo Much, Greatly Appreciated
Old lenses are Supreme

Not sure why this 1937Summar & a 1940 summitar is so CREAMIY SMOOTh bokeh ... not so swirly
Could it be because thy botht are uncoated
or does bokeh strictly Deal with Blades >>> ???

Lovely shots Helen!
Summitar bokeh turns creamy when stopped down to at last 2.8.
At 2 the Summitar swirls no mater number of blades or coated or uncoated.

Having owned those mentioned, I am not in agreement. Number of blades determines swirly and bubbly bokeh, a good clean coated late forties Summitar is almost identical in performance with Version 1 Summicron, only failing in sharpeness at the edges and corners at f 2 when compared with the Summicron but not by much.

Helen, John thanks !! :)

John, do have some photos from 84 Ginza to share ? It would be interesting to see how much it has changed !

Cheers,

Gabor

Gabor,

Great question! The answer is maybe - I'll have to hunt around in the attic to see what I can find. I think I had just changed to colour print film around that time, so there should be some negs somewhere.

I remember taking a local train to see a sake festival somewhere on the outskirts of Tokyo (October-ish from memory) I took loads of shots there too.
