I always specify what process, what size film, and what I want done to it. For instance, "send out, 120 c41, process only, do not cut".

Yup, ditto, it pays to be specific. The film you save me be your own...
I sent a roll of C-41 color still spooled on 620 and wrote on the outside
of envelope I wanted the spool back, and was returned with no problem.

I picked up 2 rolls of 120 film today from Walmart.
Both envelopes were labeled "develop C-41".
On roll cost me $4.84 while the second was close to $10.
The expenisve one had B&W prints, which I rejected. They changed the cost to $0.86 for that roll. The other roll remained at $4.84.

I just picked up a roll today and it is still 84c, a roll of expired Portra 160VC.

I'd ask them why their prices are so whimsical compared to other Walmarts.

I finally got my 3 rolls of 120 film back from Walmart, after 3 weeks and them telling me at one point that the film was marked "B&W". Price was $1.56 for each roll, developed along with 3" color prints.

They look Good!

Sadly, our Wal-Mart removed the film drop off display from the store. They no longer send film to Fuji. Was nice while it lasted.

As I have said above, I will soon send out at least 5 rolls of 120 film from Walmart, and when I go to pick up the developed rolls, I will take with me the Walmart envelopes that show $0.86 as the cost per developed roll. Fuji did a good job of developing the film.

Just picked up a roll of 120 Ektar I sent off at Walmart. Only $1.56 with the 3x3 prints. The down side is it took 3 weeks to the day. Kinda of along wait to see if my 124G works that I picked up. All is good, can not wait to run a roll of Neopan 400 thru it, will process that myself. Carlos M was so kind to send me 10 rolls free. Thanks again Carlos for the film.

Walmart prices are all over the map. I've had cheap and more expensive with the same service. I've been quoted prices when calling their customer service number...Fuji .. and then getting into it with the manager when they came back at 2.5 times the quoted price. They do a pretty good job. Just drop them off and pay whatever they charge when you pick them up. Here is a 35mm E6 Velvia 50 picked up from Walmart yesterday.

I collected two rolls of 120 yesterday in Houston. $2.80/roll develop only. I guess folks are right. They charge whatever they feel like on any given day. Maybe somebody at Fuji is reading this thread? I think I'll ask for prints also next time. It may be the same price.

Raid: good idea about taking the old envelopes. However, the nice gentleman at my Walmart said that all processing prices had gone up recently. We shall see.

Heh, speaking of Walmart experience:

Not Walmart, but Fuji dropped the ball on me, they dipped my Arista Premium roll in their C-41 processor. After I wrote in bold on the "Special Instruction" section of the envelope that this is *NOT* C-41.

It's almost funny that a lady from Fuji left a message on my phone apologizing for the "mishap" and they actually send me back a roll of Acros 100 and a free development voucher for the next roll I sent to them via Walmart. I bet this happens more often two decades ago.

What was on the roll?
Oh, it's the roll that I'm supposed to pick photos to include in the Traveling Camera project 🙂

All ends well though, I re-shot a roll with the Little Oly (Ilford XP2 this time) and those ended up in the project's photobook.

I used Walmart for Kodachrome for years - cheap and excellent quality, but sadly now gone (at least for now - there is some talk of reviving it)

It cost me $2.80 and they cut the negatives into strips of 2 frames! I think I will stay with my local guys that are 8 miles closer and just $2.20 more per roll of 120.

After the strange $2.80/roll pricing on my 2 previous rolls, I picked up 2 rolls last night from Walmart. 1 @ 120 & 1 @ 220. Both priced at $0.84/roll. Shoot lots of 220. It's way cheaper to get processed.

I picked up yesterday several envelopes from Walmart. Two came back scanned and with prints for $1.56. The rest came back without prints for $2.84. I pointed out this price difference to the sales person, but she told me that they had no control over pricing done by Fuji.

I've been using Walmart for 120/220 C-41 development over last 3-4 years and based on my experience the prices are all over the map from $0.90 per roll of 220 film to $2.88 per roll of 120 film. One of my friends uses Walmart as well and he even wrote a letter asking about the random prices. He included the letter in the drop-off envelops and he got every roll came back at $2.88 per roll, 120 or 220, ever since.

The moral of this story is not to ask questions at Walmart.
