You don't put the fim in a mailer as such. You place the film in a processing envelop. Drop it in a box. The Gnomes from Fuji collect the envelopes 3 times a week and return processed film. Just like the old days. My first photo job was printing in an overnight lab. A herd of VWs rounded up film all day from drug stores, supermarkets, etc. I printed all night. The VWs then started the process all over again in the morning. Back in the Land Before Time.

Just dropped my first roll of Ektar 120 off tonight. Wrote on the envelope send out only on top, 120 c41 develop & prints. How easy is that.

I've had several rolls of C-41 color processed at Walmart. I then scanned the negatives on my Epson 4990 flatbed scanner with the Epson software. This setup has always done a very good job, but on the Walmart-processed negatives I found banding in large sky areas. This has not occurred with any other color negatives I have scanned -- just the Walmart ones, and I have found the same problem in several different rolls.

Outstanding! Though I'm pretty leery of Walmart right now -- gave them my last roll of Kodachrome in mid-December and it's not back yet. Fuji says it was delivered right before Christmas but Walmart claims it wasn't. Not sure whom to believe. It isn't a pleasant experience going there, that's for sure, but if the slides show up, and they'll deal with 120/220, all is forgiven.

Kodachrome in December 2010 + Walmart = asking for trouble.

I just phoned one of the many Walmarts in Calgary. The person at the photocenter was very patient and helpful on the phone.

I asked her if they C41 process 120mm film. The reply was "Sorry, we only process 35mm". I asked "Are you sure, it should only be a matter of changing the film guide and that it may have been quite some time since you have done any 120mm". She said "Perhaps you are right, let me have a look". Withing 5 seconds she comes back on saying" I found the guide, we shoud be able to do it".

My point here is that most C-41 processors should be able to handle 120mm film. Common sense tells me that most of them would be designed to handle it. One should dig a little deeper someone tells you they only process 35mm.

You have an advantage: Your Walmart still has a film machine. It's hard to imagine processing any film without the machine. However, that opens possibilities for places that still have film machines. I'm not holding my breath. I will ask around at Walgreens, CVS, etc. My guess: The 120 hardware was never present.

I've noticed that b+w has been more expensive than c41. Not sure by how much, but more.

But a warning...I recently sent in a roll of 120 B&W and asked for prints...when I got the roll back the total was $10! Never doing that again...develop only from now on 🙂

The lab I use charges £1.99/roll for C41 and E6 (120 or 35mm) and £7/roll for black and white - so three and a half times as much. This seems to be fairly commonplace and is the main reason I use colour process B&W more often than not these days.

Do they offer scanning of the negatives?

I use to take my 35mm negatives to WalMart for scanning before they closed down their 1 hr service. Once I took in some 120 that I shot & they said it would need to be sent out. Week later the negs came back with a note from Fuji saying they didn't offer this service. So don't waste your time with WalMart for scanning.

keep telling folks to send their 120 negs thru Wallies. If you used the Tetanol
C-41 kit it'd probably cost you more. E-6 120 runs $4.88 the last time I sent
slides.

I use walmart for my test rolls only. If the shots are important to you, NEVER use walmart. They touch the negatives (fingerprints everywhere) and usually the negatives are full of scratches. They sometimes use outdated chems too...

Wonder where Walmart sends Canadian customers' film. The Fuji Processing
place in Tullahoma, TN does a great job on both C-41 and E-6, no complaints.

I think this is only if Walmart themselves are doing the processing. I've had nothing but good experience with their sendout service to Fuji over the last couple years.

You could send your black and white to Peak Imaging for less. They use the standard xtol process. Or there's a firm i Brum as well.

On three rolls so far of E6, I paid 4.88 developed and sleeved uncut. I don't recall which is which as far at who processes C41 and who processes E6, but it appears that Fuji processes one, and sends the other out.

My prices however are consistent with Raid's experience and the $4.88 posted here.

In a previous post on this subject, I did include images of the two sets of instructions on the "Send Out Only" envelopes for C41 and E6. This was here on RFF.

Sent three rolls of 120 film to Walmart (color negative film). I put on the film envelope's special instructions: "120 roll film"

It was supposed to be back by now. I called the 1-800 number and the nice lady there told me all my film was marked in their system as B&W and should be done by 1/14.

Oh lord, I have not Idea what's going to happen now!
