Are all black M8s and M9s black paint?

Just wondering if all digital Ms are black paint bodies.

M8s are black chrome. The M8.2 and M9 are black paint.

hi, m8 bodies are black chrome & silver chrome,the black m8.2 are black paint with a brass top plate and bottom cover, the main other difference is (4000th.m8.2) top shutter speed instead of (8000th.m8) sapphire rear glass,quieter shutter, but upgrades are available for the m8, change the rear screen,upgrade the shutter(from 8000th to 4000th) and even the covering to look like the m8.2.(from sandpaper like finish to a traditional pebble like finish) but the top and bottom plates will still be black chrome instead of paint, also the hotshoe of the m8.2 should read 8.2 of memory serves me right i hope this helps a little

The paint (particularly on the bottom plate) brasses very easily.

And the black paint on the M9 is MUCH tougher than the M8.2, unless of course you've used sandpaper to make it look street cred, like some people do (no really, it is that important to them!).

I would love it if my black chrome m8 brasses like that but I guess the chrome does not?

The black chrome M8 has a zinc cover, I believe, so as it wears it will show through kind of a silver color, not gold. They wear like iron though, mine has not worn through yet.
