Hi,
I need to know what size lens cap and filters fit some lenses. Instead of guessing incorrectly what lenses I have (fairly new to FSU RFs), I'll post photos of the lenses.
Thanks for any help
Mike

The lens in the top photo is a rigid Industar 50; that one takes 33mm screw in filters/hoods. This size is a PITA to find!
I have this lens and have a couple alternate solutions. First is a36 filters and hoods. Some times called 36mm "push fit" or "clamp on"-depending on whether the filter/hood stays on by friction or has a small retaining screw. Not the ideal way but this works and is relatively inexpensive.
Second is to find an a36 to 39mm screw fit adapter. This is a bit less of a kludge but easier to then find filters and hoods. And the adapter I found and use is Leica made and was about 8 times as expensive as my I-50. And I'm weak brained at the moment and can't recall the five letter code for the thing.:bang:
The bottom lens is and Industar 61 and uses 40.5mm screw in filters and hoods. 42mm caps. Easy to find used and not too much trouble to find new.

Hi,
This is quite a useful website, although in Russian.
http://www.inr.troitsk.ru/~serge/sov_lens.html
The third column from the right, for example, shows filter sizes. It's labelled Светофильтр and the rest can, after a fashion, be translated by Babel.
Regards, David

David,
Thank you for this link. Looks to be very useful--even with the sometimes surreal google/babel translation!

Hi,
It's all part of the service; we old gits have to earn our keep somehow...
The other interesting lens site is http://www.baierfoto.de/russobj/objektive.html and is in German for a change but I like the pictures.

The rigid Industar 50 (top photo) takes the same size cap as the collapsible I-22 and I-50 - which itself is the same size as the Leica Elmar, for which pattern caps are easily found on Ebay etc. I've bought several, in a kind of spun silver plastic with felt insert. Work a treat, they're pretty tough and they weren't expensive. As for filters, push-on 36mm or screw-in 33mm (IIRC). For the Industar 61 (bottom photo), the filter size is the fairly-common 40.5mm

I've found that the lid from a tin of Sharwood's curry powder makes a near perfect fit as an Industar 61 lens cap. You just have to nip it in a slight bit with a pair of snipe nosed pliers. (I don't know if it's available in the US though.)

The caps from plastic milk containers sold in UK supermarkets make good lens caps for the collapsible I-22/50.

Where does one find a tin of Sharwood's on this side of the pond?I've found that the lid from a tin of Sharwood's curry powder makes a near perfect fit as an Industar 61 lens cap. What wealth of knowledge here.
Thank you, every one.

And the milk cartons sold in French supermarkets make a similar rear lens cap for a lot of lenses. Well, the ones in Normandy do...
And there's the black FED ones which were modelled on the Leitz ones.
