Couldn't help noticing that the listed prices for the Nikon D3x and the Leica M9-P are within five dollars of each other.

For your money, which would you choose, & why?
 
M9-P for me... the leica digital is somewhat of a dream camera for me, the ultimate for personal photography. The d3x is really nice, but not worth 3x the price of a 5d mkII for me.
 
If money was no object I would get the M9P, simply because I can't be bothered to lug a D3X around with me.

But I would never spend that much on a small format still camera. I'd rather buy a medium format digital or a cinema camera.
 
I would pick the Nikon for the camera's auto focus w/ manual override, and larger lens selection.That being said the M9-P is a beautiful camera in my opinion.
 
M9-P, hands down. For 135 format shooting, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not going to waste any more time futzing with SLR's. I just don't get the enjoyment out of shooting SLR's that I do with RF's (and TLR's-but those don't have a digital equivalent).

Anyway, when and if I can get a digital full frame leica I will. I'm also planning on giving the X100 a shot and if Zeiss of Cosina made a digital RF I'd want to try those too. Anyway, easy choice for me.
 
Man, all that poll does is making me think of so many things that I can do with that amount of money. And (surprisingly) not all involved buying stuff. 🙂

Sounds like your moving from the "goods" category to the "services" category 😀.

Personally, I would go M9. I wouldn't want a camera bigger than my D7000

M9-P for the size. I already have a DSLR and it doesn't get much use although it takes good photos. It's just too big to carry around comfortably every day. Also, I already have Leica glass.
 
M9-P. The Nikon can do more things, but I don't need any of them, and for the things I do need, the Leica wins hands down (smaller, lighter, more enjoyable to use).

I vote for the m9-P . Reason: getting old I still like to take photos but not to go around with heavy gear. One camera, maybe a different lens in the pocket...it's all I need.

Quite as you say, Keith (altho at least I put it in the "General Photography" section 😉)

Yet even in the context of RFF, the D3X has made quite a respectable showing...
 
M9-P, but I don't want either. If someone made me spend that sort of money on cameras (rather than trips etc.) it would probably be a Rolleiflex and Leica MP. But in reality I'm lucky that I tend to prefer cheaper cameras.
