Kind of late to arrange the "old dude-rangefinder-burning man" synchrony now - what about for next year?
That provides time for old dudes like me who still work to make necessary arrangements. (I need someone to cover my first week's classes, kid issues, etc.)
I think it would be a BLAST.

my thought was geared for next year...no time or money for this year...
i hit 61 in a few months and lord knows what the future holds...something out of my ordinary might be good for the soul...

This is great! I'm not the youngest guy on the planet either, having lived my (de)formative years in London in the late 70's. I would love to meetup with anyone going this year, and in future years too!
It's a great event, and everyone has their own, unique experience. You definitely get out of it what you put into it.
A little bit about camera gear - yeah, during the day, it's bright bright bright! I might take along some Ektar 100. I tend to like shooting late in the afternoon, into the evening, it's sort of a peaceful moment before the noise camps startup.

How much cleaning do you do after? Full CLA, or just exterior? I'm missing this year, but already thinking about next. Wondering if I should bring my Autocord, iiic, or buy another camera that I'm not so attached to. I've always been to weary to bring any real camera gear in the past, and have brought my old canon point and shoot (from when they still made them with viewfinders, so it's actually usable in the sun). It still works, but it's definitely got some dust I'll never get rid of (like under the lcd). I see the people with their DSLRs, but swear it's taking some time off their life span.

I'd love to get together for a rangefinder meet.

My first time too... Not sure what the best way to coordinate a meetup is. How about we plan to find each other at The Man at 4 on Wednesday?

never been, but assuming the worst.. i'll probably have everything double bagged while not in use, and then carry multiple plastic bags in the event of approaching dust storm.

I was there at the designated time and place but couldn't find you. I even dragged along another photog who I met on the playa. Oh well.
It was great fun to shoot out there with my R3a and M6TTL, CV 35mm/1.4 and 21/f4.
Here's one of my favorite shots; colors are a bit strange because the lab screwed up my E6. More here.
