I just got a GD-2 data back for my G2. I've figured out (mostly) how to set it up. I don't know at all, however, how to set up the back so that it records the data between each negative. I now have the internal switch to the on position. Any help, I'd sure appreciate.

Hi Tony,
My reply is no help in fixing the problem... more of a sympathetic response! I too have the G2D-2 data back, no instructions and no idea how to set it to record between frames.

I used mine for a while, recording the data on the first and second frames of the roll, however, after about 3 months I realised that I never even looked at the data and was just wasting 2 frames each time. As a result I have actually taken the data back off.

Recording between frames would be much more useful, so I will watch this post in the hope that someone has the answer.

OOOPS- must have taken too long to reply - repeated what Nate said:

I don't have a GD-2, but try this found here: http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-forum/00TD08

Paul, the data collection is enabled by setting the switch inside the back to ON (labeled, EXP.DATA IMPRINT). When you set this to on and close the back, the film will wind to frame 3. During the rewind, the data is imprinted onto frames 1 and 2. During the imprinting, a light on the back will blink, while printing. It takes about 20 seconds to imprint. When done, the counter will blink at 00.

When the switch is turned off, if you set the back to some mode other than the one with all dashes (-- ---- ----), it will imprint between the frames, using the display mode setting.

I have the manual and can scan to a PDF, if interested (English, French, German or Spanish). I can probably do it by this weekend. PM me if interested.

Excellent info all. thank you, Larry for the .pdf of the manual! One question: must the On/Off switch be in the Off position for data-printing to take place on each shot?

If your referring to the switch inside the back (film side), this is the "Collective Imprinting Switch". When set to ON, the exposure info will be placed on the first two frames (on rewind). When set to OFF, the info is printed between each frame.

Sorry to revive such an old thread-- but does anyone have any suggestions as to where one can find a Contax G2 back, and how much one should pay for it?

Thanks,
david

Help please - I need the manual for the GD-2 databack

Help please - I need the manual for the GD-2 databack

Just got the above for my G2 - it came without a manual and I can't find any instructions anywhere. I have tried playing with it, but it doesn't seem to make any sense, too many buttons and options.

If anyone has a pdf, please upload or PM me, pretty please.

TIA

Does any one have or know where I can track down a PDF of the manual for a GD-2 data back. I have resurrected my G2 and can not find the manual for the GD-2. I have the original manual for the G2 but it has only limited info on the data back.
Thanks
Steve

GD-2 Manual

Sir:
I have just resurrected my G2 but can not find the manual for the GD-2. I have the G2 manual but it is rather limited in the information it presents on the GD-2. I have tried the https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/contax_g website but I can not find the files section. Can you help. I must be doing something wrong.
Thanks
Steve

The Internet Archive is a wonderful thing!
There is a copy there.

I think this link will work:

Thank You!

Perfect! Absolutely Perfect! I put in most of the day trying to track that manual down. I guess it is just a skill set I do not have. Thank you so much for your time and help.
Take care
Steve

Steve, you're welcome! Not sure how much skill is involved: I have a big collection of bookmarks that make searching easier.
There might still be a copy at the yahoo group page but I think you'd need to join the group to gain access to the "files" page there.
