A battered leica m7 for 2100? Have a deal currently in the loop to jump from digital to film. It's a little worn, with a chip on the body and lots of scratches.

What do you guys think? Feel so unsure about this deal but I really want to take the plunge for film. And this seems to be the quickest way out.

Thanks for the feedback!

Seems a little rich for a "battered" M7. As durable as they are I would be worried. Have you checked around for better ones?

There's one in the classified now in immaculate condition for $2300.00!

The problem is, I don't have ready cash now. Someone offering his set in exchange for mine which will make my life easier haha.

He's also throwing in an artisan and artisan case and strap. So I guess the total cost of the camera would be.. 1950 or so. Sighs decisions decisions

Why are you unsure? Cost, the cameras condition or the move to film?

You didn't mention if you have any M-mount lenses. You'd need those too.

Really the user condition and wondering if the price is fair. And if the durability will be there.

Pretty much settled my lenses :)

Oh boy my problem was quickly settled. My girlfriend doesn't want me to switch so she can use the m8 too. Well guess that settles it for me... Thanks all for the advice thus far!

And Keith, I did see the m7 in the classifieds. Was oh so tempting

Well that settles that. :)

For what it's worth, I swapped my Ex-Demo M8 which I'd owned for about two years (with 30,000+ shutter actuations) for a new M7 which had been used as a demo only a few times.
It was with the dealer I bought the M8 from. I think the secret is that you need to catch a dealer at the right time. I think mine had just received another couple of M7's from Leica and needed the shelf space.

I was pretty sure about changing cameras as I'd spent a lot of time trying to isolate what I needed to do in order to achieve the results I was after, but make no mistake a move from digital to film is quite a leap.

You do know that your film Leica M body does *not* have to be as expensive as your digital M body, don't you? :)

This is very true, but for my part, I knew what I wanted and had no need of my M8 any more.

Maybe the OP felt the same until his girlfriend told him otherwise. ;)

i really felt that it was time to make the switch. but i'd rather make my girl happy :) when it is my time, it will happen.

i wouldn't have minded an ikon really. just this was just a circumstantial question e.g someone offered me an M7
